What To Do At 60k Miles?

My 2001 Maxima SE is about to hit 60,000 miles. A milestone for my car.

I'm going to have it serviced in probably a week, and just wanted to know if there any special sevices that I should done to the vehicle. I need to have the brake rotors and pads changed anyways, so that will be taken care of. Do the fluids need to be changed at 60k miles? Tranny fluids? Let me know.

I also need to change the filter on my Injen intake as well. What size filter can I place on there? I was thinking of just ordering a new Injen filter for it since it has worked for me without any MAF issues. Where can I get one of those?

Thanks in advance!

Have the motor mounts inspected among the other items at that scheduled increment.

Keep driving your car until you hear some clunking or something, or you feel a loss of power, then get it serviced.

Why don't you just get the K&N recharge kit and clean/reoil it?
Won't hurt to change your PS fluid too. I used Mobil 1 ATF.

a) Transmission fluid (Personally, I would remain old school and change it every 15,000 miles)
b) Coolant (IMO, that should be changed every 6 months)
c) Spark Plugs (maybe)
d) Check CV joints to make sure that the boots are in tact and not leaking grease
e) Change (or clean if you have a washable one) air filter.

That's all I can think of.

Have you changed the brake fluid yet? May be a great idea to have it bled as well.

Oh yeah, may not be a bad idea to lube all your hinges too.

60k service is not that big... Its just alot of checking to see if anything is wrong. Highly recommend AT Fluid and Coolant... Brakes and Rotors definitely... Also check your shocks, make sure they are no leaking.

I can't think of anything else... I did the bulk of that when I bought the car just to do em.

I just bought an '03 SE/TE 6spd with 53K on it and plan to do the following:

(Before Winter)

- register it
- change tranny fluid and coolant
- get winter tires

(when spring is coming)

- buy new summer tires
- change brakes/rotors/brake lines/brake fluid
- install K&N intake
- replace fuel filter
- check/replace sparks (may or may no do this depending on what they look like, should be good at 60k on stock NGKs)

After that i'll get to the simple mods i want to do like RSB, FSTB, STS 2-piece mod and that's gunna be about it for my whip. For the fluid changes i usually just take it to like my mechanic and he'll check the other more obvious stuff like CV Joints, Belts, etc.. but you should be good at 60k.

have fun!

No Nav, everything but. HLSD, Meridian, Titanium Package, Frost Leather....etc..

No pics yet, it's bone stock. Super clean exterior except for some light scratches on the hood and a scuff mark on the rear bumper. Pristine interior except it needs some new Max matts.

I gotta get some pics soon, but it's not hard to find a bone stock Polished Titanium 5.5Gen SE on here... I'll take some pics of mine soon.

Paid 15.5k for it and it has 53k on it. A little more than i wanted to pay but what's an extra $500-$1000? $10/month more..... GIMME!

Unless you are driving under extreme conditons you are replacing good fluids if you change tranny fluid and coolant at those intervals.

Regardless of miles, I think it would be a good idea to change fluids in a 6 year old car

I wasn't talking about a 6 year old car. I was talking about the 6 month coolant change and 15,000 miles tranny fluid change.
