You think 20-23 is bad? That is average. Have your check your coils?

I get, on average, between 22-24 mixed. And 24-27 all highway. Sounds about average.

What's the idle at?

why do people complain about the gas mileage when it's in the 20's...it's a big engine and of course it's gonna be thirsty. i'm getting about 16mpg right now 1/2city 1/2hwy and i'm learning to live with it =/ i don't even care about the mpg anymore the car is a pleasure to drive and it's worth the gas that it takes. if gas is an issue should have gone with something with a smaller engine lol

I was able to take care of the rough/low idle by cleaning my throttle body but still getting poor gas milage. its only usually about 20/21 lately does anyone know anything that might help?

do you let you gas run low a lot. if you do you might need a bottle of fuel system cleaner which might help a little. i have a 3.5 which gives me about 19mpg half city half highway its been like that for a while so ive learned to deal with it nothing bad is going to happen just got to keep filling up.

I'd give anything to get 20-23 avg... i'm in the city and at best i get 17-18 and even on all highway, i get about 21-22

and nothing is wrong with the car

haha i love my car. everyone says how 20-23 is normal. The only time i get 20mpg is all city driving.

anyway, I also have the low idle and I just changed my PCV valve (actually my whole rear valve cover) with no difference. It'll be normal sometimes (around 700) and the idle will be smooth, but a minute later it'll drop down to 450-500 where it usually sits nowadays. It makes my steering wheel shake and i freaking hate it. I went to the dealer to ask them to raise my idle since we don't have an IACV (due to the electronic throttle) and they gave me the typical bs story that they couldn't because they really didn't know how to do it. I told them I could show them how on the consult II and he said it would cost me at least $95....i freaking hate nissan.

if I get less than 400miles per tank in my 2k, I feel I have done very bad. I generally fill up at about 425 with about 16 gals(I know... I run it very low)= about 26mpg with about 1/3city 2/3hwy and I don't take it easy.
the 02 gets about 320mpt with the same varibles= about 20mpg.

Boston traffic is horrible compared to a few surrounding cities. A lot of stop and go. Upon average, it takes me about 45 mins+ to go about 9 miles into the city.

I think it has a lot to deal with weather as well. Last year, i was in Tennessee for a family visit and was getting about 27mpg mixed driving. I just took a vacation up in Maine and I got about 24-25 mpg all highway.

In the end, I do live in Boston and 18-20 is what I get with mixed driving.

I have to agree with these numbers. I live in CT and 20-22 is pretty typical for city driving here, 22-25 on the highway. I spent a weekend in Boston and did all of the driving, I got 17.92 mpg. On a trip to VA, the return trip home yeilded 28.67 mpg for mostly highway.

Don't forget you also went from a 3 liter to a 3.5 liter... I used to have a 96 max and now have an 02. I am happy that i get more power but use a little more gas.

I get 19-23 city mileage depending on how much freeway driving is mixed in. Problem here is horrible traffic light timing. Apparently the Dallas area traffic engineers think it is their job to make you stop at every single damn light. When I was out in Phoenix in February, I was getting 22-23 city mileage due to better traffic light timing.

Freeway mileage should be pretty close to what the EPA says, 26 for automatics, 28 for manuals. Ignore the trip computer because it is pretty optimistic. Do the math instead. I get right around 26 on trips, keeping my speed around 3-5 over the speed limit. Actually got 26.3 (trip computer said 30.2) over 414 miles averaging 79 mph on one stretch of my trip.

If you aren't getting good mileage on the freeway and you aren't constantly going 90, then I'd look at the condition of the precats and main cat.

After 4 years, I'm sure he's over his gas issues. Possibly doesn't even have the same car.
