NJ Inspection strikes again

So today i go to take my car through inspection, and i honestly expected this to be easy. I was assuming they might try and fail me for tint, but since i listed my maxima as one of the vehicles occasionally used for the fugitive recoveries (its not), they cant. So i had them beat, i thought.

The ignorant lady running the place failed me for my Gen1 altezza's.....wtf? She told me they are not D.O.T approved, even though they clearly say they are right on the friggen lights. So after some back and forth she tells me that D.O.T approved tail lights come with a card to go in your wallet for inspection/police verification......i thought she was yanking my chain. So i call a friend who recently bought carbon fiber lights for his galant, and he said his did in fact come with a card....

So my question is, how can i get one? I cant really make out the manufactuer on my light, is there more than one or are they all CE? Heres an image of them if anyone can help.......friggen NJ.

that sounds really STUPID... i mean if it says it on the light. D.O.T approved why the ^%&# do u have to keep a card in ur wallet.

DO u still have ur stocks? if so, just put them on and get ur inspection then go home and put the Gen1..

I know what u mean, I got my INspection license in NC. and if it says D.O.T approved that means DOT APPROVED, dont matter what the HELL they are.....

But when u asked ur friend about the card, Does it say its for a mitsubishi galant on the card? if not..hey i think u might need to barrow that card

Man that blows, I thought inspections in Germany were hard. Makes me glad my mom moved out of Newark before I was old enough to drive. Hope everything works out for you.

i liked when i live in las vegas. the entire inspection for the state of nevada consists of a 5 minute emissions test. It costs like $20, another 20 to get a pass no matter what. They hook the thing into the exhaust, rev the engine a little and you're done.

You could have no headlights, every warning light lit, no brakes, etc and you would pass

I think I should move back to Las Vegas

So why are inspections so bad there in the first place? Tint and lights matter? All they do in AZ is start the car and check it for codes, then pressure test the gas cap..
Sorry about your bad experience, the only thing I can think of is to but the stock lights on like someone else said, then go home and change em...
