i had a 00 and looked in to this. there is a panel on the steering wheel to connect the control unit BUT...there is no wire harness in there. you would have to run all the wires which didnt seem worth it to me

You will need:

- 01+ Headunit for connections (00's don't have them)
- Wiring harness for controls
- 01+ Steering wheel (different than 00's)
- 01+ Steering wheel clock (I think that is what it is called)
- 01+ Steering wheel controls

In other words, Not worth it. Unless you have a junked 01+ maxima with them to rip everything out of.

Not true....If you could mount the steering wheel controls from an 01 on a 00 steering wheel than you can definetly do it. If you have an aftermarket radio, you could purchase a PAC SWI-X and install that. Problem solved. Taking off the steering column cover isn't hard. Don't give up just yet....

No you cannot...

The design of the 01 controls will not fit the 00' wheel. They are different.

Then you cannot get the wires to the wheel since the stock 00' wheel clock does not have a space for them.

Then you still have to get a new headunit.

The 2000 Pathfinder has the appropriate controls, in the same rounded design as 2000 Maxima cruise control buttons. Perhaps the innards of the steering column are the same.

For those of you who opened up that door on the left side of the wheel, you should have seen the hanger where the controls would be, er. hung. With so much re-use of Pathfinder parts it would not be unreasonable to think that they would have used the same steering wheel internals.

As for needing a new HU, I have no idea about that.

That would solve one problem...

But you still have to get wires, steering wheel clock and from what I was told/saw there are no connections on the 00's headunits for the controls...
