Is there a good coilover strut rebuilder out there?

We imported several sets of coilover struts from a small company in Taiwan a year or two ago. They've stood up to use fairly well, but the first strut to blow out is on my own car and I need to get it rebuilt (they're supposed to be rebuildable).

Sending it back to the original company is not an option, so can anyone recommend someone in the US that can take a shot at this?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Brian

Brian, you might want to try http://propartsusa.com/ They're one of the only two Koni rebuilders in the country, and deal in quite a bit of other stuff as well.
Very nice guys as well. They helped me a ton when I was trying to get my coilovers sorted out on my 3gen.

My shocks are rebuilt by them. They were recommended by Koni

So they rebuilt some non-Koni struts for you? If you're talking about the pair in your avatar, that's great. The sets we imported look almost identical to that picture.

Yes. I had to provide specs such as spring rates, car weight, etc. I'd recommend sending a picture first hand also. The internal valving is relatively the same.

I wrote to them and got a standard reply saying they only worked on Koni struts. Just to confirm that I understand correctly, did they work on your non-Koni Asian-manufactured struts?

I need mine rebuilt, rather than re-valved, so maybe that makes a difference.

Thanks.

I just called them today and the guy that work on my non-Koni struts doesn't work there anymore. At the time they were rebuilt he had me send pictures of the strut prior to the service.

Btw, do you need front or rear struts? One or two?

Thanks for looking into that for me, much appreciated. Sorry to hear they can't do this anymore, I wonder where he went?

I just need one rear strut. The set was purchased from Heng Yunn Int'l, sold under the label A&Z Motorsports. The company might still exist, but I can't find a website. I wouldn't mind buying a replacement, but I'm doubtful that I'd find one just like it.

Do me a favor, measure the shock body length, shaft thickness, thread length at the top of the shock. I'll take a look at mine

No, my set is one of 5 that we imported from Asia for a several-month field trial before investing in a bunch. I was reasonably satisfied with the equipment over time, but decided not to invest for reasons I won't go into here. They're a couple of years old now, and my single strut seems to be the only that has failed from the 5 sets, which is pretty good for any coilovers.

If it was one of the Cattman/Progress coilover struts rebuilding would be no issue, their lab is legendary for its repair and custom work.

Those are on sale this week for $1095, by the way.
