picked up a 96 for 1k

so yeah, i picked up a 1996 i30 for a thousand bucks from the local junk yard here. they told me it had a rod knock (not a problem, we have spare vq30's), so i went and paid for it, we recharged the battery and it started up with a terrible ticking noise, but not a rod knock, it was the timing chain. we added 3 quarts of oil and, magically, the noise was gone! the motor does leak oil somewhere and it needed new struts, but in general, i got a car with a straight body, a few dings, glossy paint and a relatively well intact interior for a he!! of a deal... just thought i would share my new acquisition with you all.

Are you gettin' new struts and springs? Maybe you could lower it while you're at it?
