I recently changed all the pads and rotors and rebuilt a rear caliper, so I needed to bleed the brakes. To make a long story short, the master cylinder got empty and some air got in. Yesterday I bled the master cylinder, and then each caliper. The brakes are better, but still soft.

If I hit the brakes hard, they seem to be pretty good, but if I push the brakes in slowly, they sink to the floor. Also, they seem to pull the car to the left! Do I need to bleed everything again maybe, I'm pretty sure I did everything right. What else could it be?

 

Dude,you got some good info on the bleeding procedure in you're original thread,and yet still you are having air in system issues..

I suggest you take you're car to a shop for further diagnostics...

 

Actually I'm gonna have add myself to the victims. Dont mean to highjack but its pretty much the exact same thing.

Dont remember if I mentioned it before but my g/f got new pads, rotors,and calipers for the back and yes I replaced them and I bought her new pads and rotors for the front as the calipers seemed fine. After bleeding the system they still felt very spongy, so I had her dad (mechanic for 30yrs ) do it and see if I did it wrong but I was right, so we went ahead and got her a master cylinder from idiotzone, benchbled it and also bled everything again BUT still spongy.

So this past weekend we took it off and got another one thinging it was defective to see if it'd help but yet the same problem. Is there anything that I need to know other than what I've done? What could be Hoyshnin and my g/fs car problem?

 

sometimes you need to actually have the system pressure bled. happened to a local guys car. he had midas do it for like $50 and his brakes were fine afterwards

I figured out my problem, kind of like pressure bleeding i guess- I just needed to use an actual bleeding hand pump thing. I'd bled the brakes 3 or 4 times with a friend and they were always spongy. I got fed up and went to autozone and got the $30 bleeding system. It's a hand pump that sucks the brake fluid and air bubbles out of each caliper. I bled the master cylinder first by hand and then used the hand pump to do each caliper and now my brakes are nice and firm!

 

Hmm...think I'll give that a try with the g/fs max

 

did u bleead the system while installed or did you bench bleed the calipers and cylinder?

 

bench bled MC then installed and bled all 4 calipers starting from rear. that didnt work so we tried bleeding MC installed but still didnt work.

 

Did you get it pressure bled yet?

 

Does your uncles shop do that?

 

Don't believe so.
I know one of the guys on CMC had a midas do it. it cost like $50

 

Think I'll make a thread in CMC and see if any of the guys give any useful info
