Changing inner tie rod ends
you need a special tool from autozone...you actually need two...one to remove the outer tie rod...and one to remove the inner tie rod....it shouldn't be that hard if you have worked on axles and suspension before....
Youll need a tool like this:

I got one from Napa, part number on the box is 3312.
Deluxe Inner Tie Rod Tool

I did need a longer bolt in the end for it to work.

Thank you very, very much Steven88, and JSutter. I appreciate the much needed info. I have worked on suspensions and axles before but I have always had someone do the inner ones since I didn't have the tool. I'm glad you showed this to me because I thought it was a long socket that I needed. Both my 4th and 5th gens need inner tie rod ends so I figure I better learn.
Merry Christmas to you both,
