the car shows 09 02 code for rear oxygen heater sensor, duno what that means, but i am assuming that is affecting the milage

everything is stock, using 97 octane gas, no knocking that i can tell of

is this normal ? or too low? and besides fixing this sensor, what can i do ?

really low on money now this time of the year so cannot afford any repairs yet

Rear o2 sensor doesn't affect mileage. 500km is what ? 250 miles ? If it's only city driving in traffic it's ok.

If you want to buy a sensor get it on ebay from AdvanceAutoParts. They have Bosch universals for $28 shipped.

310 to a tank isn't bad, make sure you're up on all your maintenance and don't get on it too hard and you could probably do a little better.

thats ALOT better then i get. Ive had quite a few problems that could contribute to poor fuel economy, exhaust leak, rear 02, front 02, old fuel filter. Last couple of tanks ive been getting 330-340KM(200miles) to a tank. I put in 62 liters too. I think that was like 10 or 11mpg. I only use premium.

The rear o2 sesnor doesnt do anything. It doesnt effect gas mileage its just for monitoring.

thanx for all the responses 500km = 310.685596 US miles

so i guess i should not feel any kind of sense of urgency to replace this rear 02 sensor since its not afecting my milage

i am planning a fuel system service after the holidays for around jan or feb when i have the time and money, replace the fuel filter clean TB and other stuff that comes in that package offered at the local canadian tire store

yeah i guess i could slow down a bit, i do drive it hard at times, its just that the VQ engine is so FUN!!! its a really smooth and strong engine. Kudos to Nissan on designing that one, if only it was more fuel efficient, oh well, cant be always perfect, u cant have one without the other!

PS: i think 96blkonblkse is right about the rear 02 sensor, its a monitoring device for the emission control system, thats why my car registered 0 emissions when i bought it, i knew something was up right there, u cant have 0 emissions , unless u are driving on water or VODKA!! HAHA. so they replaced the mufler, put a brand new one on just in case, those bastards didnt tell me the truth but i knew something was up. its ok, the car runs great, and when i make some extra cash, i will have that sensor replaced cause the check engine light is pissing me off.

thanx

Follow the links in the stickies on how to reset the check engine light yourself. My rear heated o2 sensor came up like 3 years ago (maybe more) I reset the codes and it hasn't popped up again. Sometimes its just a voltage issue and doesn't show up again.

I usually get around 600km to a tank. I'm up with the regular maintenance and I check tire psi monthly. Also, keep the car clean as driving with a dirty car and reduce your milage by as much as 10%.

i reset the computer, i also used to have the 0304 KS code but that went away now just the 0902 code remains for the rear 02 sensor

umm actually i dont think a dirty car slows u down, check out the nascar races, during those they explained one day that i was watching air actually rides a steady stream about 1 centimetre off ur cars surface, thats why u still see regular dust on the car cause air doesnt lift it off, at less than 1 centimetre air is packed really hard around ur car and moves slower, this ofcourse varies with speed that u r traveling at

i duno what ur definition of a dirty car is but lumps of dirt hanging over ur car is kinda obvious imao

also most of the cars drag occcurs under the car , the undercarridge is the least aerodynamic area

Try using a fuel additive such as Gum Out or STP gas treatments every time you fill up. That would improve your gas mileage greatly. And it definitely help if your not a lead foot.

That sensor should not drop mileage. But, WOW you can get 97 octane up there? Wish I had that when I was racing. Can't find that here except race-type gas.
