Oxygen sensor upstream, right bank??

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me how to determine which bank is the 'right' bank on a '96 Max? I have a CEL that according to the code shows a 'right bank O2 sensor heat malfunction'. I'm just not sure which is the right bank as the engine sits tranverse in the car.

Thanks,

PS. I also get a CEL code 'TCC problem' issue with auto tranny, but the car shifts and rides fine??

right bank is on the right side (passenger's side). If you take off the right front wheel you'll be able to see the O2 sensor sticking out of the exhaust manifold, directly at you. It should be a wire with a white cover. For replacing it, it's easier to get under the car and do it.

actually the right bank in a maxima is radiator side.....the front of the motor is on the passenger side of the car so looking at the motor from the passenger fender the right would be the front of the car

Wrong

Yes the front end of the engine is on the pass side so in order to face that direction, you have to look at it from the driver fender

I just did it today and no you don't have to take off the wheel. Just jack it up and get underneath and its right next to the oil filter. Very easy replacement.

Thanks again!

My O2 was sent today via eBAY. It will need to be spliced into the OE connector as the O2 only comes with wires. But for $25 I thought I'd try it.
