Lighting tricks.
How to always illuminate your front lenses and convert your corner lights (next to headlight) into blinkers, for free.
This is really pretty simple and can be done any number of different ways. I had the urge to fiddle around tonight and didn't have silicone or wiring or wire strippers or any of that fun stuff. Didn't stop me.
-remove corner lense
-remove corner lense socket
-remove (entire) bumper lense
-remove bumper lense socket
-re-route the sockets, bring the blinker up to the corner space and the courtesy socket down to the bumper, on my car the driver's side was a bit tricky but nothing difficult.
You will notice that the tabs are similar but do NOT line up exactly (too deep/shallow). The bulb and socket fit flush with each housing however so it's only a matter of keeping them together. I used duct tape in this situation, yes the silver kind, yes I felt like a red-neck/ricer but this is temporary to see how I like the setup. It actully works/seals quite well. My sockets are going NOWHERE.
-after both sockets are attatched to their new homes test, then re-assemble
Pros:
-bumper lenses illuminated in one solid strip when headlights are on
-blinker is brighter (and in a more logical location IMO)
-cheap and takes perhaps 15 minutes, 20-25 minutes if you have fat fingers
Cons:
-the corner light will not be lit when headlights are on (only blinks now)
I really like the solid strip of the illuminated bumper lenses, I think it looks clean and I have always wanted the blinkers in the corners (since 97-99rs get screwed out of the variable brightness in the corners anyway) but you be the judge. If you don't like it, no wires are cut and everything goes back to how it was no sweat.

i want to do a similar move but i want the blinker to to remain the same i just want it to be lit up, and leave the corner light the same as well.
i think nissan did not think this part through. the blinker cannot be seen from the side of the car which makes no sense, they should have made them both alternating , so when the front one is on the other one is off and then the opposite

As far is how it looks:
Like JSutters pic except the corner light will be out (until it blinks). When it DOES blink it throws a very nice pattern (instead of that lame yellowish color that the corner was before).
LightsOut, you are right but I did not have to re-wire ANYTHING or go buy ANYTHING, that is the only reason I made the post. I wanted people to know the harness is just long enough.

ok electrical guys... heres what i want to do. want the blinker part of my bumper lights not to blink, just say lit. while my side bumper lights are lit and blink, and also the coner light to do the same (as the side bumper light). would anyone be nice enough to make me a write up, i dont want to try this without instruction so i dont mess it up.
thanks
thanks
Just did this (in the snow...damnit), definately looks a lot better. Driver side I just hacked away at the plastic but passenger side I was able to cut it just so they both fit and actually still lock in, to a degree. Great 'if you're bored' mod.
If you stood in front of your car with your corners blinking going "hymmm" than I have done my job.
Now, IIRC when you put your blinker on pmohr your corner will illuminate AND your front bumper lense will also get MUCH brighter. Should prove to be an interesting change at night.

I have 1157's in my corner light that blinks along with the 1157 front bumper lights (theyreboth always on, with the fogs). The side bumper as a dual blinker would take some cutting/hacking since it's a 194, which is only a single filament bulb. I might play with that come spring. I used some 1157 sockets from a Civic for the corner lights.
I never thought about just switching them, I like alot of light though. Nice post

Remove these:

Remove the socket w/bulb intact:

Remove these:

Then take the sockets (nevermind the strobes):

And swap the blinker to corner and corner to blinker.

I did the 1157 mod to the bumper lights too, I like that mod.
^^^ With this setup it is dim, just like the corner light is in stock form. It is the same brightness as the side bumper lense. Can't speak for converted harness setup however.

hey guys, i'm new to the forums. I'm krzymax's little brother if anyone knows of him. I inherited his SE-L, but does anyone know how to rewire the tail light blinkers in the back to make it stay constant on instead of blinking when turning?
