where have all the MEVI's gone

Does anyone know where you can still buy a mevi. I think they have all been sold. Or do you know all the part numbers for all the parts in the kits? I want one with my tax money, but now all the retailers i had bookmarked have sold out of them. thanks... hogs.

I understand COMPLETELY. I am in the same boat. I want 00vi, it would be nice, just not willing to dig in that deep on my DD (Daily Driver). MEVI is more quick of a swap. The just stopped selling/ producing ot because of the lack of demand. Everyone either doesn't do it, or just does 00vi now (which are both respectable decisions).

I also understand, I would rather have the better power and efficiency, but not willing to put up the extra bit of a hassle of work and parts compared to MEVI kit. But as I have said NUMEROUSLY before, "I am the victim of my own circumstance." I know that the org has such a great collection of a swap lists, photos, and procedure libraries. Just, my other car turned into a project, and mildly unreliable (not to mention a money pit). A bit 'gun shy' if you will. I just am afraid of that happening again, to a better car too. (my other is a turbo/ nitrous-w/ high compression Cavalier-MISTAKE!)

Another contributing factor...I am the ONLY Maxima enthusiast within 60 miles, I swear + no internet at home (only at work/ school), so in case I need another max owners help or expertise, I'm out.

The "more stuff" you are talking about getting happens to be widely available and significantly cheaper. The problem is that you guys don't want to get your hands dirty or cough up the time. Enjoy spending the extra 500 dollars on an ECU or piggyback to recoup the lost mid-range power.

anyways not everyone minds the loss of mid range power, and not everyone is comfortable getting their hands dirty, or they simply may not have the time. The Mevi isn't particularly bad...it's just not as good as the 00vi,but yes to get the most out of it you do need to spend some more cash to raise the rev limit. Personally I'm not sure if i'll ever go to an 00vi over the mevi but also I don't have a stock car. As to the Mevi, i thought i saw a for sale ad in the 4th gen forum recently, but i could be wrong.

I really didn't mean this as a debate between the two, the 00VI wins across the board. You get your hands no more "dirty" when you use adapter plates (one of many setups). Don't you think there is a REASON they are not stocking them?

Do not have a shop install it. I'm sure if you went there they'd have no idea what the hell you are talking about. You need to do this for that reason and the fact its a great learning experience. It is no easy walk in the park for this install you need to do research. I'm shocked that you spent money on it without knowing how it goes on. Do you have all the other essential parts? What did you actually buy already?

Ptatohed actually contacted them 1 month ago, and they said, "Sorry, there's no demand for them anymore, and we won't stock them unless we can secure 10 orders or more"

So, used MEVI's are the only option at this point.

Ethnic6, It's so easy, anyone can do it. It's take some time, some patience, and just basic tools.

How do you non VI'd rural area living folks drive without a VI/extended rev limit?

I sold my JWT 7200 and don't have my electronics hooked up for my VI anymore and holy shnikkeys .

I drive to work everyday ~55 miles round trip everyday where it is mostly highway driving conditions and this sucks. I can see why some of you live in an urban area and need the low end and hardly ever see beyond 4k, but for the rest of you fellas, you DO NOT know you're missing.

Fr33way™ and Apparition need to sack up and get a VI at the very least.

I was climbing a hill that usually dips me into the late 6k's and feels fantastic. But not yesterday after I sold my JWT & have no electrons moving for my solenoid for my VI. I honestly though I was in my sisters 3 speed Cavalier.

Rev limiter came on tooo fast, power went south after 5.2k. It was just plain awful.

I would really suggest those of you that live in a rural area with lots of highway driving to get this combo. Combo not limited to JWT, but find someway to rid that filthy limiter and of course make it worth it w/ a VI of any sort.

At some point in the future (Spring), I'll be putting my stock manifold back on the car and selling the MEVI with all electronics so keep your eyes. I'll be selling all electronics and hoses in the kit. It's worked flawlessly for a couple of years now. The kit will go for around 400.

It's a JDM stock piece so adtermarket companies generally don't sell them. And we have seen what courtesy has done with them.

I would consider selling mine if the price is right.

Or, look for a junkyard in Japan.

If you have all part #'s and some time to do some major leg work, it might be worthwhile.

But with the 00VI's around, the market might have crashed.

how did you make the pretty green words?

yeah the market is dead for it. when i tried to get the last group of mevi's together. at least 60% dropped out before they arrived in the states. and then even more dropped out after they made it in.
