lacquer thinner to remove tint spray from cars paint

I tinted my taillights with Nite Shades and I guess I didn't tape off good enough around the light and I got a small amount of it on the cars paint. I dug up one of my very first posts and found that someone said he used Extra virgin lacquer thinner to remove the tint off the taillights many times. I called the local hardware store and they said they didn't know what the virgin was put they did have "Lacquer Thinner." Would this be ok to do on just a very small "messed up" area. Here is the extremely old post where the guy posted:

Good luck!

At the body shop we used laquer or paint thinner to remove overspray off the cars all the time. Just as long as the surface is clear coated and it is not fresh. We didn't use thinner on the panels we just painted, just the original panels or ones that cured at least 30 days. There should be no harm, the clear is set and hardened enough to resist any damage from wiping thinner over it. Just wash & rinse area when done then re-wax, because the thinner will strip off any protective seals.
