VSS...Auto - 5 Speed Swap...HELP

I got all wiring taken care of. I have everything taken off the Auto tranny and I have a couple questions. What do I do with this sensor? (shown below)

and what does it plug into on the manual tranny or what do I have to wire from this sensor to make everything work like its supposed to??

Thanks,

Matt

I find your picture a little puzzling. That location for the VSS agrees with the FSM for an A32 chassis. For an A33, the sensor is shown to come in through the top of the case.

At any rate, it really does not matter.

Do you have TCS?
If NO, then the cluster gets the speed signal from the ABS/TCS module. The ecu gets the signal from the cluster.

If YES, then you need to wire the gear driven speed sensor (that should come with the tranny depending on year) and wire that into your cluster.

EDITED for correctness - YES and NO cases were originally transposed

I do not have TCS and the speed sensor on the 2000 5 speed tranny has no wires on it. Its just a metal plug deal, no wires, no cables. When you take it out its got the gear drive and all but its made with no wires or anything. So I guess it gets its signal from the ABS sensors?

For those of you that subscribed to see my progress here is the link to my other thread with my write up. Its basically Hal's write up from VQpower.com modified for the 5th gen specifically.

EDITED POST

Yes, without TCS, your VSS comes from the ABS control module. The sensor on the manual tranny is not used. That sensor pictured above is no longer required and the empty connector can just be left hanging. You may want to seal the unused connector up as there is 12V power there.

That sensor is the Engine rev speed sensor, for Auto's. I had to change that on my cefiro recently. It's used to monitor engine rev speed to change the gears using the TCM. I guess there is no need for it on a manual.
