97-99 Lip on a 95/96 Bumper **WTB as well**

I am trying to complete my lip kit for this spring by getting a front lip for my 96. I know I could just get a 96 lip, but I like the look of the 97+ front lips much more. I know they have been put onto a 96 bumper but how much work does it take, and can it be done to looks clean? With no gaps? If it just involves just a bit of carving with a dremel and test fitting to get a perfect fit, then I feel I'm up to it, but any more than that and I'm not so sure. Any advice on this?

A front end conversion is out of the question so don't try to sway me. I will settle for a 95/96 lip before that.

Also, looking for a front lip so if you have anything, whether it be for a 4th gen or 4.5 gen, please let me know. Also, condition does not matter.

Thanks

take matty's. otherwise dont take the chance on ruining your current bumper. i know dremel work is not a hard thing to do, but if you go to far and mess up, you won't be happy.

The 97 bumper is a little longer in both dimension. You'd need to cut a piece out of the middle and then some off of each end. I was going to buy one from someone who had made a 97 fit the 95.

I like the unique-ness of the 97 lip on 96, makes the car look different but still in a good way, and makes you stand out from others

I'm all about being different and unique

I see how you have to make the 97+ lip fit.
I'll snap some pics also.

Looking down the top of the lip, you just need to cut flaps at the top that would fit into the 97+ bumper off, then just use self taping screws and double sided tape to hold it up. Have someone hold it up while you apply the tape and have it sit flush.

is that what you did Euro?

no idea what you mean by flaps.. you mean those like two like air whole things on each side?

but I cut the sides.. made the sides shorter... then i cut a chunk out in the middle... fiberglassed it together... then cut a curve to match the mouth of the lip. I also cut a strip of the lip b.c it was too low for my liking.

yea you cut out what I was describing, the piece in the middle, and other flaps that would be by the fog area on a 97. Okay you did the same thing I was thinking.

i know which flaps you are talking about. there are four or five of them and they sit horizontal along the top of the lip?

so ultimately, you do have to cut the lip in half to make it shorter in width, correct? and then it can just be fiberglassed back together?

it doenst need to be cut in half, width wise the bumpers are the same so it will fit the same, its just the flaps and such that need to be cut and augmented.

Exactly, that's why I felt it was very hard to do this mod. So I bought a 97 bumper and lip instead. Who cares if it's original? The average person doesn't even recognize it.

the one in maxima985speeds pictures was cut in half... i actually bought it off of him... and then did some more modification to fit it perfectly...

but yea it needs to be cut in half or the pockets the two air hole things will be like on the sides.... cuz you would be taking a lot of the sides....

Not very clean but you get an idea. Lips also hanging a bit loose after using it all winter...

As you can see the air hole things line up just under the foglight area... just as they do on the 97-99.

you got that to fit just about perfect, good job. how is it mounted on the bumper because that is another job in itself.

Thanks...Just tape all around.. but its measured to fit real tight. It has hit its fair share of ice and such during the storm a month ago. It fits better than my side skirts and real valences...

i'm not planning on doing this so much to be different as i am to get a decent looking lip on the car.

ok so i can see where it needs to be trimmed along the sides. so you lose the part that wraps around into the wheel well. Perhaps fiberglass that back on so that you can still put screws into it?

but seems like there is still some question whether it needs to be cut in half or not.

also, MDeezy, i'm assuming you haven't started workind on it quite yet. but when you do it would be awesome if you could take pics as you go along of where you have to trim material off.

nah I havent started yet, I picked up my side skirts and rears today. I will take pics as I'm fitting the lip on, I plan to fit the lip without cutting it in half. I plan on making it fit with the lip in one piece. I'll have photos to back up my work.

i still have no idea how you can do that without making the sides super short and having the air holes not line up under the foglight area but yea....

But yea i fiberglassed the sides on so i could screw if bneeded.
