can this be welded
can this be welded
i think this is my front crossmember???? my car is a salvage title, the front crossmember got bent a little. its salvaged, among other things, because to fix that the right way you need to take it to a body shop and it costs around 2K to fix. For 250 dollars, a shop bolted it back together, jimmy rigged it pretty much. its been fine, and good, until i hit a dip super hard the other night, and the bolts ripped out and it seems like they took some metal with them. it is making the worst sound i have ever heard, almost as if my transmission is going to fall out, it shakes a ton now, can this be welded???? how do I fix this???

Might want to take a look at this - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-R...QQcmdZViewItem
buy the lower tie bar from nissan. aftermarket supports are thin an cheap and break again in no time.

You mean lower rad support not tie bar
most of the ones found on ebay are cheap alternatives, but it's best to buy OEM replacement from nissan, or known companies that can get OEM replacement parts.
It can be changed in a couple hours. look at spending about $300 including buying the rad support. I've already replaced one in my '95 and changing the one in my '99 this year.

what does the lower tie bar look like? can't find it anywhere. how much is it usually? isn't it just a bar. how will that fix my problem. does anyone have any pics of an installed lower tie bar
It is $127 (+/- due to taxes) from Nissan Dealer. It is called the "Lower Core Support." About $500-$800 to install at your local friendly body shop. I know it is called that because I was corrected at the dealer for calling it a tie bar.
The part # for just the lower is in the link 2damizzax provided above. It would be smart to buy the bolts and bushings to go with it.

so this lower core support will go across that broken piece under my car, holding it up??? also, for sure a body shop needs to install this. should i fix the lower core support before the motor mounts, or does it matter.
