5 MM Spacer question

When putting a H & R hubcentric 5 MM spacer on a 17" wheel (40 mm offset) that comes with its own hubcentric ring , do you use the wheel's hubcentric ring on top of the spacer or just leave iit out?

When you put the wheel hubcentric ring over the spacer it only goes 1/2 way down. I hope I.m making myself clear!

I have done both (ring off and on) and both ways have been fine. On one of my sets of wheels, I had to grind the plastic hubcentric ring in half so I can mount the wheel flush since the ring was too tall.

Iilac has also been running 25mm H&Rs with no hub centric rings on his Volk TE37s for several years now with no problems.
