who needs a hybrid when a max can do this? Ok the 303 miles is on that tank of gas and it just went past the middle line. I always reset the trip odo when filling with gas. SO I just find that amazing for a 6cyl and almost 210k car. 95% highway 5% city.

p.s knock on wood three times, for luck

Not bad, you have an auto too (actually they get better highway mileage I think ). I don't see SE gauges, what's the deal?

if that was a manual, it would be at around 3500rpm in 5th at that speed. Always wonder why they made 5th so short.

Nice... Yeah, what's up with the non SE gauges? Anyways, I'm proud of my max hitting 400 miles on my last couple tanks. But then it took 16.xxx gallons to fill her back up.

Been there - done that.

Yeah when your car is consistantly driven on the highway for long stretches them your gas mileage tends to improve.

Hell I had a 1995 Explorer limited edition and I drove it all the way to Vegas. It was a gas mileage reader to tell you how long you have to go for the next fill up. Well during the trip I got 510 miles on a tank. Thats on a v6 engine from a ford

I always seem like I am getting good mileage on a trip. The gauge never really moves until the car is shut off and restarted. Then it starts to drop like crazy. Never seems to consistently go down.

ever drive in NYC???? Chinatown?? Queens, brooklyn?? Take your car here...drive around for a week..you might then post up on the org saying that your car is eating gas like crazy and need ways to improve your mileage even though there's nothing wrong..

3500 RPM at 70MPH??

Maybe I haven't quite been paying attention as I thought I was. But at 70 for me I'm pretty sure its at 3K or just a tad below. At 80 its about 3300-3500. But like I said maybe I'm not paying close enough attention.

I got two maximas, one 96 white gle auto, and SOLD one black SE manual. My manual sucked gas even on the highway compared to my white one.

thats funny you say that since im from boston, and yes I have driven to Brooklyn, NY from MN in 24 hours with a 96 F150 with a 5.8l and a trailer, I almost went insane in your stupid tunnels and tolls. The tunnel was as wide as my tailer, and the steering is lose on my ford, and the tunnel curves everywhere. have fun living there

p.s and i got 16mpg with the ford with 93 octane on the highway, in your city i must have gotten .2mpg.

I have an auto and i assumed highway rpms on a 5spd would be lower than the 4spd auto, but apparently the auto's highway rpms are a little lower? i should have checked out the gear ratios i guess.

LOL, don't be surprised if law enforcement comes after u for admitting to breaking the speed limit. Was it Mitsu or Subaru that lurked forums and auto-x websites to void warranties for racing? And it looks like cruise control is on, so u had the intention of going over 65. Well, I could be wrong and maybe you're in one of the cool locations with 75mph or unlimited speed limits. Anyways, post another pic, but get the speedo below 65, just in case.

I REALLY don't think he needs to worry about that... there are many speedo pics of over 100, as long as he's on a closed circuit course it's all good.

Auto maxes definately give better mileage than 5sp's on highway trips. My Max did 400ish miles on a tank with 90%+ highway

its not really the miles per gallon its getting, its the fact that the car has 200k+ miles on it and its getting that MPG. I mean I can understand a car with less than 100k miles getting good gas millage. but 200k on original engine, and tranny, thats amazing, at least I think it is.

p.s if i ever have to go to NYC with a truck with bad steering again I will

Yeah, because I posted a thread about my amazing Maxima that achieves superhero-like feats.

OP: Oddly enough my '98 that is highly maintained (135K) can only best about 420-450 with mixed driving while a friend I have with a BEATER '96 (160K) makes over 500 all the time. The VQ is a wonder.

It was in response to screw you but it's a moot point and I'm only jealous of your TL projectors. Did you get two more TT wheels?
