3.0 removal

Can a 3.0 in a 2001 Max 5-Speed be removed thru the hood without having to drop it down?
All I can find in the manuals is how to do it with a car lift (which I do not have convienantly at home)
I am putting a 3.0 back in it.

Thanks!

*sigh*

Yes. Remove the hood and you'll be able to pull it out from the top. This is how i always do it.

Well, normally yes, but with the limited space between the pullies and the frame rail on the passenger side I had concern about the placement of the brake distribution block directly over the tranny on the drivers side.
Any advice on how much of an angle or if it can be done without removing the tranny as well?

I hate doing something this major to a vehicle that has not a scratch on it, such low miles and plus it is my wifes.
My personal car, oh well, just yank it out and fix broken things later

Thanks for your input!
