copper brass aluminum radiator?

Just a general question. What are the pros and cons of each type of radiator? I'm looking more into the chemical reaction with the type of coolant Nissan uses. At the same time I'm also looking at thermal efficiency.

Copper-brass is heavier and in long term could have problems with tube and tanks welds... Aluminum made is lighter and a better heat conductor... I'd go for aluminum...

Is this refering to the koyo radiators?

I have one in my max...and i think its fine...been there about 2-3 months...havent had any problems...And considering the price of a fully aluminum radiator is about 3x the price of a koyo...you cant really complain....AND its better than stock....

Also, good luck finding a fully alluminum radiator, i called for about 2 months straight....Unless you wanted to do a retrofit...but i dunno bout u but i rather just bolt a d4mn radiator in without modification

Well I was looking into Griffin Radiators as well. A little on the pricey side but they offer it in aluminum and I believe 1.5" thick compared to the oem which is only 1/2" thick.

Weight is a big thing with me as well. I don't want to add weight to the car.

Thanks for the advise in corrosion. I was thinking that copper over time with Nissan coolant or approved equal would corrode the coolant system.

The only thing I don't like about the Griffin's is that they don't offer a tranny cooler. So I would be running an external tranny cooler, which I really don't like to do when it gets cold during the winter months.

With a Griffin you will be adding weight but gaining alot in cooling. I have a griffin and it was considerable heavier than the stock unit.

Expect to pay about $375 shipped with about a three month wait. They make them to order I believe.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'm sure you wanted the radiator to go along with your sc setup I imagine. I'm looking into this one radiator from autozone. The manufacturer is Transpro. They quote the weight at 7.7 lbs.

Infact....does anyone know the stock weight of an empty OEM radiator?
