Oh just wow... v. Midas techs are morons.

There is a Midas place not far from my house that does oil changes for $19 if I bring my own stuff... I don't have space to work on my car at my complex so alas stuff like that has to be done at a shop. I've gone there one time before and they did a fine job (albeit none of the techs spoke any English haha)... last Thursday I took it in again for an oil change.

Today, a week later, I decided to check the brake fluid level in my car after I got to work - I haven't popped the hood between the oil change and today... So I open the hood, check the brake fluid level, about to close the hood when something shiny catches my eye... a 8" Stanley flat head screwdriver WEDGED in one of my radiator cooling fans.... holy fawking poop.

I have NO idea how the fawking screwdriver did not catch the fan blades as I know for sure that this specific electric fan (which is an auxiliary fan) has been turned on from time to time the past week as I could hear it. I also have no fawking clue how that screwdriver did not fall out its place as it was not really wedged that hard in the space.

All I can do is thank the automotive Gods that the screwdrivers did not cause any shenanigans which would have caused me to go super-Jew on that Midas place

i wouldnt ever take my car to a midas, jiffy lube, etc. But i feel your pain in not being able to work on your car at home, I also cant in my complex.

Luckly I get free oil changes at the dealer.

Lucky for me, the butt of the screwdriver was pointing at the radiator and not the flathead part... but yeah I consider myself extremely lucky atm... O.O

Yup that was me! I actually managed to get the o2 sensor swapped the day before we left so I had better gas mileage and for that I was happy

I bring my car to a local chain shop Speedee in North Attleboro, MA. I like the shop cause they let you out into the garage and show you everything that they are doing on your car.

I brought the car in last week cause I had a coupon for a free brake inspection (they are fine) but it was free...and they opened up the door and hit the friggin lift. Now theres a nice dent in my drivers door. I am considering going to complain...however I do not know what i should say? Any suggestions?

You suggest that they pay for the door repair.

Then you suggest that you will sue them in small claims court if they don't pay for it. I hope there were witnesses of some kind. The moment that door touched the lift and dented, you should have stopped everything and gotten the manager there on the spot to make sure everyone knows the dent was their fault and that it was made right then/there. You can show that the swing of the door, the dent, and the lift line up.

Once things are moved out of place, and if you don't have a witness, their insurance company will deny that it ever happened and you won't have proof.

They didn't use the screwdriver during the oil change, they purposely wedged it between the fan so it overheats!!!

Yeah, he sabotaged his own car.

I'd take it back and tell them they forgot something in your fan.

BTW:Next time, do it yourself...you don't need a garage to change your oil.

I didn't notice it until i got home...thats the problem. Its not a major dent its actually right at the edge of the door....and it is bent in a little bit. Nothing more than a cosmetic blemish but it still bothers me. I think next time i bring it in I will mention to "be careful when you lift the friggin car" and show them...even though they wont fess up to it.

I wouldn't have let a few goons from N. Attleboro do that to my car. Right after that happened I would have started dishing out Stone Cold Stunners and DDT's. Don't let them bang your car around. Why didn't you call them when you noticed it? If you live in Boston N.Attleboro is not local

Well im from Wrentham...so its only a 10 minute drive...and I like the place (I still do..they are the only place that lets you out into the garage and shows you what they are about to do). I will just go there and complain the next time i go.

I don't think that was the implication. It is known that he (and his friends) does other work on the car. I personally have a phobia of that kind of thing and sweep my engine bay 4-5 times before I start the car after a repair.

Trust me - I have a bit more brains than leaving components in my engine bay... I love my trusty screwdrivers, why would I want an evil engine to destroy them??
