clogged cats? symptoms no *****? or transmission?

Hey my brothers 2000 maxima is having a problem i cant really put a finger on it...basicly the car has no *****....you get on it and the rpms just go up but the car doesnt go anywhere, normal drving it isnt noticable to much but if u come out in traffic your screwed......... now the car just had its transmission rebuilt ive takin the car back to them twice because id think its the transmission(my brother cant tell me one way or another if this problem was there before the rebuild) but they planted this seed about the cats....so i was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem?.... and i cant smell any normal clogged cat rotten egg smells........ any opinions id appreciate.... side note car is stoke with 138k miles on it.... no exhuast work but car has had a p0134(not sure if this was the exact code) or so catalytic inefficiant code bank 2

thanks anthony

Sounds like a MAF. Do I hear an echo?

Had the same thing. You can sit at 4000 RPM in 3rd on the highway WOT it and not accelerate.

Hello.
This is happening to my 2000 max also.
It has a cat efficiency fault going on and will not rev normally.
Get's to about 3k and just makes noises but nothing is moving.
Revs will keep going up but it takes a loong time to rev out.
The car actually slows down at WOT. Feels like coasting.

man, so many MAF answers. I like it.
100% the maf? Because there is no maf code..
And someone said something about a 2001 maf what's that about?
The car starts and runs great other then has zero power after about 3k.

Didn't see the OP answer back so had to ask.

Thanks a ton!

Without a doubt it's the MAF.

Ok. I'll report back. Now I just need to fix the broken engine mounts
and replace cats.

I'm looking on ebay and they're ultra cheap.
any problems with these?

these guys seem more legit though but more expensive.

Both probably don't have warranty though.

Autozone wants $140 so let me know what the maxima forum community thinks.
Thanks again.

I've heard bad stories about buying a MAF sensor from ebay. Stick with your local auto parts store. That way if there is a problem or its defective you can easily return/exchange it.
