What's up with these 1/4 numbers?
These are the numbers from a guy(2000 SE on the 5thgen board) who ran a 2000 SE 5-speed(not sure if FED or CALI spec) on a 90-degree night vs. my 2001 SE 5-speed on a ~85-degree night at the SAME track.
Interesting. I'm wondering about my SI vs. his OSCAI w/K&N. I figured I lost some low-end but gained top-end with my SI, but looking at my numbers:
--------HIM----------ME----------DIFFERENCE
=================================================
60'---- 2.43_________2.478________- 0.048 sec
330---- 6.67________6.660_________+ 0.01 sec
1/8---- 10.12______10.070_________+ 0.05 sec
@----- 71.73______71.94__________- 0.21 MPH
1000--- 13.07_____13.015__________+ 0.055 sec
1/4---- 15.54______15.508_________+ 0.032 sec
@----- 90.66______89.78__________+ 0.88 MPH
WINNER
------
60' - HIM BAD launch
330 - ME Should be more, but lost traction on shift into 2nd
1/8 - ME
@mph - ME
1000 - ME
1/4 - ME
@mph - HIM WTF! He was almost 1-mph FASTER!!
Considering he had hotter weather, I would conclude the SI has minimal if any gain in the low/midrange over an OSACI w/K&N and definitely I should have had a HIGHER trap speed, but he did!
Is this what you see???

First of all im disputing the 90 degree claims. It was actually quite nice that night. More like 80. but the humidity made it feel over 90. The humidity was awful, and not only does he have the oscai but he has version 2.0!!

adam, as we were leaving the track, i hit my amb button and it said 92 degrees...i hit it randomly during the track runs and it was usually around 94 degrees...alex, this isn't really a fair comparison because track conditions were absolutely horrible this time...the track was very slick and almost everyone was having trouble getting traction...i'm sure with traction, justin should be able to run about a 15.3 or so in that weather
justin, i watched the videotape my friend made while we were all racing and you chirped 2nd AND 3rd gear on both runs that we have you on tape...i was impressed
alex, justin has cali spec

He had WORSE traction, but still ran consistently close to my runs with warmer weather. So, either he has a considerably STRONGER car from the factory or the Stillen Intake isn't ANY better than the OSCAI version 2.0(Adam, funny!). However, if he only CHIRPED 2nd, I don't know who had more traction, since I lost traction repeatedly as I shifted and pulled in the bottom of SECOND gear by. I lost a lot of RPMs, since I jabbed the clutch to stop the tires from slipping. He chirped 3rd??? I would have to see that to believe it. I've tried to chirp third by power shifting and still never done that, but it wasn't on the track which is slippery compared to the street.
I think I remember Phil saying it was about 85-degrees that night.
QUESTION
===============
Shouldn't a Stillen High Flow intake GAIN on the top-end, therefore making MY trap speed GREATER than his?
Otherwise, Nissan did a better job than $tillen in DYNO tuning the intake tract and manifold together to produce greater power. I have been told by an Engineer friend that just because you add an open-element air filter, it doesn't mean you will gain horsepower and torque. It is easy to help top-end, but the low-end will suffer. He stated that you need the plenum of air the FACTORY airbox contains for the torque, but I figured the SI would have still gained on the top-end. When I go to the dealer soon, I will dyno the SI and then re-dyno the FACTORY airbox, because I will have to remove it anyways to keep the "warranty police" away.

After reading numerous posts about how to launch and listening to plenty of ridicule, 2000 SE will be at the track by fall with a y-pipe!! I will run 14's that day!
