Nissan is just trying to drum up business by finding "problems" with your car. Don't waste your time.

I went to have it done. They didnt find anything wrong with my car. They just suggested that I get new tires, which I did need. However, I still have the Gold Preffered extended warranty, so even if they wouldve found anything, it wouldve more than likely been covered. Also, I dont know if it helps or not, but I ask for the same tech whenever I go, which is not that often.

I went a month ago 4 kicks and they said I needed oil/air filter and that was it. It's a joke.

DON'T, you bring it in and they look for things they can fix or get creative and brake stuff.

If it is a 100 inspection, shouldn't you get the results at the end rather than having the blantly state that they didn't find anything.

Come on, THINK!

I did it when I had my Quest minivan. I had just changed the air filter, and flushed the radiator.
Wouldn't you know that I needed a new air filter and a radiator flush? Along with a tranny flush.
I took it to the Service Manager and explained what had just happened. He said that these were merely suggestions, not requirements.
Maybe because I'm a woman, I'm dumb enough to be taken? I guess they won, because I responded to their little gimmick and went in to begin with.

I almost got duped by the "We have a customer desperately looking for a car exactly like yours. Come on down and we'll give you a generous trade-in offer on a new car..." If I hadn't been too busy, been too apathetic, and talked to my dad later that day, I probably would have gone down there and gotten talked into a "deal." Thank goodness for dads, apathy, and work.

Its ridiculous what they are doing. I like this one best thou....amazing.

If you own a maxima you get a post card with coupons for tuneup, brake service, oil change etc. like 4 coupons all together. There is an asterix and in the fine print it says maxima, z350 extra.

People who own an xterra get these same coupons but now it says pathfinder and xterra extra.

yeah i just got one of those things in the mail.. i did it before and i figured they'd try to find something wrong with my car, but i did it anyway.. they said my belts needed replacement.. which they did, and i replaced.. but they missed a power steering fluid leak i had.. i dont know how they missed it, cause one whole beam under the car (maybe a control arm?) was wet.. but they were pretty honest though

Yeah, last time I got a coupon for an oil change, but when they finished, they said the coupon wasn't valid because the oil change was done per the factory scheduled interval, so it was considered "scheduled maintenance." I guess the coupon was only valid if you took your car in for a random unnecessary oil change.

Oh, so they were honest because they replaced the belts? You went there for inspection and they didn't see the leak; THEY FAILED!!!

Wow that is complete BS. I love my Maxima but you gotta understand just like any company they dont just depend on selling cars to make money. They also do the fix it stuff. But using the coupon and getting is complete

I think just have your mechanic or if you are able to be hands on, check the stuff yourself. Like they say if you want it done right, do it yourself.

Yeah. It doesn't take a genius to check fluid levels, yet that's probably 10% of the 100-point inspection. The other 90% is equally BS stuff like checking tire pressure (1 point per tire of course) and seeing if the air filter is dirty and if there's gas in the tank.

I remember someone getting this inspection with a bunch of crap wrong with his car (CV joints completely shot, suspension popping and groaning, tires cording etc) and they just told him to change his fluids. Which he had done the previous week.

It WAS free though IIRC.

I highly doubt they checked much on mine, but not much should need to be checked. I received a $200+ quote to replace my 2 air filters, oil change, and a fog light change (though he admitted I have yellow and they only have stock). Oh, my brakes and tires were good

Kindly told him I can do all that at home. I did not know about the fog light so...

I may stop by Tuesday since I will be nearby, have nothing else to do, and am at 30k.

For those interested I have prepared a list of things that are checked during the 100-point inspection.

1. Check for things that can be replaced so that we can charge the customer.
2-100. Repeat step 1, until sucessful.

If you have a warranty on your car they won't find anything because nissan isn't making any money on you. If your car doesn't have a warranty then it's jackpot for them.

You are wrong, very wrong.

They find anything because the dealer always gets paid whether from Nissan under warranty or out of your pocket if your warranty is gone.

I got one of these letters in the mail today. It's not from the regular dealer that sends me junk. This one is a bit farther away. It says they'll change my oil, filter, and lube the car while doing the inspection. I'm very tempted, but I'd be pissed if they messed up my car and tried to charge me for it. I'll just have to whip out my camera and document that my car was in tip top shape prior to them touching it.

Hmmm.... I stand corrected then. I still would never use one of their coupons they are almost always going to find something wrong even if your car is problem free.

I got one in the mail yesterday also. I didn't see on it any exception to Maxima's and their costing more for the lube and such. I threw it away. I won't go to them for anything that I can do myself.

I agree that they will almost always find something wrong with my car.

ROFL, good one.

XOOMER stands for somethins fast, made up word with the x-factor, so instead of zoomer its xoomer, similar treatment as with Xerox.

I've coined this word back in 97-98 and own the domains with it.
