Removing Dents with Liquid CO2 + Hairdryer

Anyone tried this method? Might be good to get a few dings or minor dents out for almost nothing, as long as the rapid temperature change doesn't harm the paint.

omg my "bubble" is, like, sooooOooooOooOooo bursted.

Before posting, I did an Org search for "CO2 dent" and came up with nothing, and the effectiveness of the technique is NOT discussed at all in the thread you linked to. Thus, your post gave us no useful info and my question still stands. Anyone have experience with this method?

It "shouldn't" harm the paint. This is an old technique but it typically only works on larger dents. You can also try using ice on a really hot and sunny day.

Sounds like it won't work on smaller dents and dings and also those air dusters are not liquid CO2, so I'll probably just bang out my door ding from the back.

so it does or doesnt harm the paint? i doubt it works on any type of ding since the radius is very small and requires a lot more force to pull it out.

I had a friend watch the video and try it today and had zero effect.

I will have to try it sometime myself to actually confirm and I will take video as well.

I am very interested in this technique. I might justtry it on my 3rd gen max first before i go all crazy. It seems to be okay though but i cant seem to trust it on my precious 4th gen. If nayone does this before i do let me know.

I would not try this with an air duster even though air dusters get really cold because they contain ***rafluorethane or some other fluorinated hydrocarbon and that's probably not great for your paint. (When you hold the air duster can upside down this stuff is what comes out, instead of air.) Look for a can of liquid CO2 with nothing else in it, because CO2 is pretty inert (and your paint is always in contact with CO2 in the atmosphere).

I have a bicycle pump that takes co2 cartridges which can also use thinner bbgun copperhead co2 cartridges.

I wonder if that would work. Like 20 bucks.

Actually filled a flat on my car to around 20psi with the smaller copperhead cartridge. Doesn't need to be attached to tire valve to shoot out just pull the trigger. Its alot stronger than the air duster can but runs out quick.

Maybe i will give it a try.

Oh good idea, I use CO2 cartridges on my road bike... Let me know if you get it to work on a ding or small dent.
