I saw a group deal on a SMC ADJUSTABLE
SHORT THROW SHIFTER for 110 shipped. Is this a good deal?

I read in a previous thread that someone had their shifter snap on them during driving....
Hope this isn't the same shifter, bcause I am interested in getting in on the group deal.

the one that snapped was probably the one from Courtesy Nissan, generic (I've seen similar ones on ebay just last week) But Courtesy doesn't sell any short shifters on their site for Maximas. The SMC shifter on Greg's, www.custommaxima.com, group deal site is a good deal, I think, I put my order in already. I've been looking all over the place for this shifter, now I've found it...

I've never heard of a STS snapping .. & looking over my SMC ... boy .. I can't think of a situation that would make that thing snap .. it loox pretty sturdy 2 me ...

Greg's price is really good ... if I hadn't bought directly from them .. I would have bought from Greg ... his price is better than the price Steve @ SMC gave me!

only reason i didn't like the stillen short shifter is because it's too high!!! and you can't adjust the height of the shifter....it should be called 'Long' short shifter...

I was hoping you guys were going to talk me out of buying the shifter!
Sounds like I'll be spending some more money on my Max.
Thanks for the help...it was the Courtesy shifter, and I remember that the Stillen shifter was "long."

Ya the stick is long but throw is still pretty short I like it since I won't be banging my elbow especially with the center arm rest up.

Adjustable?

I realize the stillen isn't adjustable and from what I hear is only a 25% reduction in throw? I have one it seems a little better than that but not sure? How adjustable is the throw on the SMC? $120 is an awesome deal!

I know this has been discussed in other threads, but all the guys getting the SMC STS: Are you going to install the STS yourselves or have a shop do it?

It's not really a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am and you're outta there installation. I saw it on one site that you have to go under the car, take the cat shield off(?), bang some indentations on the shield to make room for the short(lowered) shifter, etc.... I don't know of any shops around my area who does these installs.

Are you guys going to go the DIY route or professional install?

I'm going to do it all myself, and possibly my roommate if he want to poke around with me under the car, y-pipe, sts, rsb, fstb, everything I will do it myself, I don't trust the shops for some reason. When eventually in the future when I get the V2, I might do that myself too. we'll see. But I don't think it'll be that hard. Plus, I like tinkering with my car.

Anyone have any TOP-SIDE pictures???

I'm just wondering if anyone has any BEFORE/AFTER pics?

Just, so I can make up my mind on ordering the SMC or $tillen. I think the $110 savings over a Stillen, plus the adjustablity is a better way to go.

How do you adjust the throw?

Too bad nobody sells polyurethane bushings to replace the "rubbery" feel stocks.

Re: Anyone have any TOP-SIDE pictures???

anyone know a STS that shortens the hight of the stick too? I think the stock shifter hight is too high. Thanks.

I just bought mine!

The way the shifter is adjustable is this......There is a collar that can be threaded up or down that determines the height of the shifter and I believe the throw can be adjusted in a smiliar fashion.

I have been waiting for a deal like this for too long....I cant wait to install it.

My first mod!
