why are my signals flickering sooooo fast?

Today I installed led 1156 bulbs for the signal lights, does anyone know why led bulbs make it flicker so fast? Will I get pulled over for this?

thats because they are LED.. leds use less current than regular bulbs do so the circuit that flashes ur turnsignals thinks that the bulb is out.. u need to put a 100 watt 6 ohm resistor in parralel with that bulb....

^^ dont know about all that. but all cars (i think) the turn signal goes really fast when one of the bulbs is out, just look at all your signals (front and back) and make sure they all work, happened to me a little while ago, just had to replace the bulb $3 from autozone.

I think I have a short somewhere in my right signal's. Most of the time it will flash normal, and sometimes it will randomly flash quick a bunch of times, then return back to normal again. Haven't gotten around to checking my connections yet. I thought I was tripping out the first few times it happened.

ummmm, wha? It's called a resistor, not an equalizer. And like what 550 said, adding a bigger resistor will compensate for the lower current that the LED bulb draws.

Edit: V = IR
P = IV = (I^2)R
live by it.

He just said he bought new bulbs....why would they be out? It's because they are leds as 550 said.

Or you can get a LED flasher relay and replace your stock one. As opposed to wiring a resistor. I replaced mine when I converted my tails and signals to LEDs. I'll try to dig up the relay part number...Or if Kevlo can chime in here. He supplied my flasher relay.

Is the flasher relay in our car the typical 3-prong type used in almost everything? If so you can get a heavy duty flasher/relay for towing at any auto-parts store and it will take care of that problem.

yea let me know what kinda flasher we need cuz the way i have my turn signals wired they arent as bright with the resistor cuz there is like 75 of them there and they are really current sensitive...

yeah alright, so it IS the standard type, just a fyi you can pick up a 'heavy duty flasher relay for towing' and that will do the trick as well, street-bike guys started running into this problem years ago when they'd put flush-mount blinkers on their bikes which had smaller bulbs=less current draw.

It's plug 'n play, to find out where it is just turn your directional on and locate the little black box that's making the clicking sound.........
