Ok so I went to my local Acura dealer becuase they were having this "Test drive the NEW RSX" thing. I got to take it for about 5 minutes, and here are my impressions. It reminded me A LOT of an S2000, everything from the tranny to the engine sound. It didn't FEEL fast at all, if you like torque, don't buy a honda. The thing handles like it's on rails...not quite as good as an S2000 but definitely better than my stock suspension 4th gen max. I read in Car and Driver that it does 0-60 in 6.1 and the quarter in 14.8@95....but I HIGHLY doubt that car would be able to keep up with my max on the track. To me, mag times are becoming less and less believeable all the time. I do have to say that car was SMOOTH. It looks sweet with the factory body kit on it. It's a really fun car to drive, and I would definitely recommend taking on for a spin if you get a chance.

I was at the Acura dealer yesterday just to take a look at the RSX type S and the salesman asked me if I wanted to take it out.
First of I don't like the exterior....looks too much like a Civic and not aggressive enough for what a 200 hp compact car should look like. The interior was nicely laid out, with the center instrument panel tilted towards the driver and a very nice small steering wheel. Excellent seats.
200w Bose stereo with a subwoofer mounted on top of the spare tire in the trunk.
I thought the engine was weak down low but when you hit 6100 rpm's, she really flies.
Great shifter feel going through the gears (much easier to shift than the Celica).

They had a test from C&D in the showroom which stated:0-60,6.7......1/4, 15.5 @90 mph.

Everything (leather, roof, bose) is standard for about 24K.

Smoked 'em!

Had the oppurtunity to race 2 of these the other day in my '96 GLE. Left both in my tracks. One was the S-type (base) with auto, the other fully loaded with manual. The i-Vtec ain't what its cracked up to be. Both car jockies were impressed. Went in and test drove it. Felt like a Civic with some mods: Peppy, good suspension, but none-the-less an Integra with a wild name...

Sport compact car

In the july issue of sport compact car they said that the rsx type s 5spd did 0-60 in 7.1 sec. I consider that more realistic. So I 5spd max will be faster.
Yet I wonder how long it will be before all the civic guys and older integra guys start putting type s stickers on their cars. Yet one more way to make your car look even more like a ricer

we never know for sure until one takes it out with Gtech and runs at the track. but at their weight, 6 speed, 200hp, its kinda believeable that they run sub-mid.. but im not too sure.

Type S does does not come with an Auto for the RSX only a 6spd, and your GLE would not blast it. Keep your BS else where newbie. Type S Base, and a fully loaded 5Spd? You might be mixed up.

I think the once again Acura made a PLAIN looking car. Looks like a Civic Coupe. The seeats are great!

How could that beat a maxima? A maxima can destroy any 4 cylinder car. Even the new WRX doesn't stand a chance.

yah right

I've driven the WRX and I think it will beat the Max from a standstill because it's all wheel drive. From a roll, it could be interesting. I was really impressed with the grip and acceleration of that thing. If it wasn't sooo ugly, I'd consider purchasing one.

As soon as it's stops raining, there's a guy that coming to the track with the WRX, so we'll see.

hmmm

I dunno...you have to consider the driver too...it seems like the people buying this car are all pretty young and bad at driving. I HOUSED one the other day in my AUTO, so...yeah. But with professional drivers, manual tranny, it would be close. Throw on a SC and they're megatoast though.

would you believe that most of the WRX's out there are running slower than you at the track?

rsx

The rsx does not feel fast at all. It handles well but the acceleration cant compare.
But you have got to love those seats.

One was Type-S, one wasn't. One was manual, one auto. Which was which? I don't know. I don't care. I smoked 'em both with my GLE. Were we racing? Yes. How do I know? We hit speeds of 150km/h on a city street (yes, illegal, so what?) Driving in the centre medium and what not. Was one of them named Andretti? No. But driving dealer cars from the shipping yard for a (temporary) living, one gets *some* experience. And since its not their car, they can drive them hard. (Both were/are car jockies.)

BTW, regarding your homepage, $25 can get me three years of domain registration. Nice mark-up.

Hey Maxx, its not "MY" web site. And we are not the cheapest. In fact we want people to find their own register, ours are for those that don't want to bother, and would like everything setup at the sime time. Our main focus is hosting, not the cheapest domain registration. Too bad this is all off topic, and that CWI is one of the fastest growing hosts despite your off topic puck shot.

As far as the race, true you did not say what your GLE had in it. But a stock GLE, Vrs the 200Hp, 6spd RSX Type S at under 2700Lbs with anyone that can drive worth a can of beans in it would not be good for the GLE Maxima. I may have jumped the gun, though we always get newbies here with stuff like, I got an intake, on my GLE and blasted an M3, and stuff like that. I was assuming a stock GLE, any car can be made fast.

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION!!!

Helllloooo people.

In my humble opinion, I HATE Hondas.

Test drove a

Prelude (manual and Sportshift..or Sport****)
- crappy interior, strange form of acceleration(pansy)
- is V-tech something dealing with like the radio??
(i didnt feel squat)
2001 Civic (manual)
- Holy crappers BATMAN! It's a Lawnmower with WINDOWS!!!
- Interesting how the Engine just HOWLS at you when you drop a pin on the accellerator.(eye caint spel)

s2000
- man that push button start is quite addicting
- " LOOK MOM...I AM A TRU-RICER! "
- Not bad accel or handling....not shabby at all
Accord (2dr, 4 dr, ex, auto, manual)
- hmmm...ok here it is ; get your CIVIC and Enlarge it a bit, all the while keeping the same engine and slapping a v6 logo on it. Also, leather is the key to deceiving your normal consumer.

Say NOT to honda.. Honda= girly like Jane Fonda.

Even with NOS a S2000 with a Comptech Supercharger will still kill you, especially on the highway.

Depends on how big the shot of Nitrous is. But, stock vs stock i do believe the s2k will smoke the Maxima, especially around some turns.

Ok, as ya can tell from the screen name i have a teg.
and have a few things to say to a few ppl,

first to tha_kwak
ok first the Prelude, the Type_SH i think is a rather nice car, for a 4 its got good speed, and the handling is great, and personaly depending on the drivers i think it would put up and have seen one put up a great fight agaist a max.

next the civic, um....lol its a civic its a nice car i find for looks (last year ones done nice and clean), i have raced an SI, rather nicly done up, off the line and longer and won, my teg is an LS. the civic is not a bad little car

SK2, i have driv'n it many times, getting one next spring, have drivin a brand new one, put the first miles on it, and yes it was slow, it was not broken in, i drove one that had about 500 miles on it and it flew, and can i tell you i have taken it to a rather fast speeds hehehe fun fun. It is a race inspired sports car you have to keep that in mind (button).

ok and the Accord, first these cars are in different classes, accord has a 4 with a 5spd, and the 6 is an auto, personaly i think the Accord is better matched agaist the Altima, you want to talk about a good match for your car, maybe the TL would be a better one.

and so you know, my first car, was a 1991 Max SE (R.I.P) and i loved it, was one of my fav. cars, wish i still had it, but she went through 5 trans in one year, guess that car was not ment to be, oh well, i miss it.

ok,
and to Acura2001CL-S
i would not suggest say'n such things in this place or at all for that matter, cause for you to say that you dont know who or what your dealing with here, i.e. (from experience) SprintMax =o) hence the whole agree'n with him.

So what did Honda ever do to you? Did an Exec run over your dog or something as a child. I mean come on the civic is not made to be a drag car, it was made to haul around Susy and her friends so they can go shopping and get good gas mileage. they are not specifically designed for you to be racing them. Pretty much the same thing goes for the accord, except its the older family version. The prelude? I've had some interesting experiences with them, involving me spinning down the highway at very high speeds. the s2k? it's not even worth comparing it to a maxima. and now the rsx...I like it. as i've said before, with a body kit and spoiler its not a bad looking car. the interior is awesome, it's smooth, it handles, it's quick, it's a great replacement for the integra. Why knock it? So please, Mr. the_kwak, please calm your negative waves....

My 2000 Sentra SE 5spd beat one by over 1 car to 90...and no max will lose to one unless the driver sucked badly.

Ok Russ,
The experience Ice Integra is talking about took place probably almost a year ago and involved myself and a prelude type sh. My car at the time was bone stock, his may have been modded a little bit, but probably not. We started racing right at the onramp to a major highway where i live. I cut over to the left lane and took the lead, with him right on my tail the whole time, as we were going along the left lane and the middle lane had a couple vehicles in them, so i decided to go around the tractor trailer in the middle lane by going all the way into the right lane, but i could no see that there was a pickup truck on this side of the truck so I ended up downshifting and slamming on my brakes, I'm not totally positive what happened after that, but I ended up spinning down the highway at about 110mph. as i was sideways at one point i saw the prelude haul by, with a totally freaked out expression on the guys face. so what i'm trying to say, for a engine with older technology (how old is vtec?) the prelude is a very decent oppenent. and it will at least put up a good fight. sorry for my posts being so long.

actually, buddy...

no one is questioning your (lack of) bias or your open mindedness. I simply asked you what point you were trying to make by referencing an apparently (to me, at least) unrelated thread on a different forum.

no need to get all spastic on me.
