I think he means the event data recorders they're putting in some new cars, like a black box on airplanes that records speed, brake, etc to help the cops determine who's at fault. If that's what he means
to maxima frenzy's response....."at the same time why?"

While we're on the topic...
What exactly is freeze frame data, I mean I understand the concept of having on frame of data, but when does it decide to take this data, and what exact data is it freezing per se?

no but you can buy one, that plugs into yoru obd port....itis called it hink cardata...i have one that store liek 90 hours of crap. it shows like graphs of brake and acceleration, it will tell your fuel milage and your trip times, top speed averge speed. it also gives you collant temps and everything, and what some of your sensors run at.
my buddy gave it to me. they are like $80 and so not worth it, but it is cool to looka t sometimes

I've read that some lawyers have started to pull the data from the 'black boxes' after an accident to determine the actual condition (speed, brake (ABS) application, etc) that occured at the time of an accident. I just wasn't sure if our 4th gen cars were equiped with the black boxes. Majority here believe that our cars don't have them, that's good.
Thanks,
Thanks,
