Engine / Transmission Spec Questions

Things that I cant find anywhere.

A tuner told me that my ICE is essentially the same as the engine in the 300ZX. Doing some homework, it was a VG, and could sport twin turbos. Ive always known this but didnt know it was a VG, and did not know it was almost exactly simliar in design, except for the lower head.

So is it tough to twin turbo the VE? or is the cost and time the only thing holding us back. Not to put anyone down, but why is a VG30DETT swap bragged about? When supposedly the VE can withstand the same power, just might not have room for anything. Why not custom fab a FRP or CF hood to make things fit?

Also states that the block/head config on the VG is capable of sustaining in excess of 1000 hp. Not wanting to go that high myself. Since the cam assembly and valves are different in the VE, could it sustain more than 1000? or less, due to a weaker design? I mean, they had to take a great engine, and modify it just so that it would FIT under a shorter hood.

Other question, been saving these up so I dont have to post too many.

> Whats the max continuous hp that the 5spd is rated for? are there any ratings? or just what happens to cook it is the max...

> Max power rating for the Auto?

> VE only made for 3, maybe 4 years. Are there any other transmissions that can bolt to it? What matters in that case? bolt holes? or the ID or OD of the transmission you're mounting to the engine. Number of teeth on the flywheel and other parts?

> Spoke to engineer at Jatco, said they can build me a better transmission that can fit my cars engine. But im not sure if I want to keep the engine or get a newer one yet. To the point: When turbocharging an engine, manuals are almost always used. But there are some autos mated to turbos out there. Has Jeff or anyone else used a turbo with an Auto? can the poor thing take extra power?

> Is it harder to tune a turbo system with a full standalone on an automatic than a manual?

> Do we keep a list of engines that can FIT or that are compatible with our engine bay and front CVAs? Im writing a list.

No flaming, Im in learning mode. And I cant use the search function.

I'd be more worried about the tranny taking the torque from a 1000hp engine, than the horsepower.

IMO if you ever get a VE running at 1000hp, you'll end up stratching your head as to why you did it on front-wheel platform, and you'll end up spending far more than the search function costs.
