Exhaust prices and local install
I got my car inspected yesterday and my mechnic said i need a new exhaust system from the cat back. So i went out and got 2 quotes. Meinekke 620$ goodyear 520$....thats for parts labor and install. i was wondering if this is a good price, or should i try to buy the parts and see if a local place will install it? Suggestions please? Thanks

http://www.warpspeedperformance.com/nissan.htm check this site out, I think I might roll with this, Ive been searching for about a month and from what I gather this sounds like a good deal.
apexi ws FTW..sounds crazy. anyhow, if your looking for a new exhaust, and you dont like sound then go for your choice of b-pipe with an oem muffler. now if you like sound, you have lots of options. Personally i love the sound of the apexi ws, cattman and greddy catbacks, but there gunna cost you. Figure it this way:
what would you rather do spend 600 on a aluminum pressure bent probably 2" in most parts catback, or 600 on a stainless steel mandrel bent 2.326-2.5" exhaust.
I didnt mind the sound, and needed a new bpipe so i found a used apexi ws catback for 270shipped. sounds great and looks nice. if you want sound clips there in the sticky on the very top of the page.

I got the catback done on my last maxima at a local muffler shop. It was 2.5 inch diameter. I picked out my own muffler from another speed shop, it was $80. So i took the muffler to the exhaust shop and told them i wanted a catback, and they charged me $120. All together $200 that day for a catback. I dont know if its location that has something to do with it (Florida seems to be a cheap place to do anything for your car) but $600 seems like way too much to me. I just took my brothers car to the same place for his catback and it was under $150 also.
Now if you want something better than that, you can get a b-pipe from Budget for $260 canadian, and put it on yourself using your stock muffler, and it wont be much louder than stock at all.

take a look at some other options too. The budget b-pipe and keeping your stock muffler would do you fine, that is assuming your stock muffler is fine.
You can get a budget b-pipe(260cad) which is stainless steel 2.5" and mandrel bent, it will give you more hp, not much maybe 5-8hp, but the fact that it will probably last a lot longer then the one from midas or w/e. Exhaust is pretty easy to install, i did mine in my garage, the hardest part is getting the bolts off.
A good alternative to that is taking it to a muffler shop and having them replace the bolts from the catback, shouldnt cost more then 25$ and will make your job ALOT easier. Once thats done just jack up the rear and look at it and you will know what you gotta take off.
the whole warpspeed system is a good price though. The y-pipe will give you about 15whp more, which is noticeable the catback may give 5-8whp. 590, for the whole thing including a cat is a good price, honestly id probably go for that.

My mechnic said that he could install everything if i get the parts, and he will give me a great price on the install. so u think i should get the whole warpspeed system, for just go for the cat-back with the maganaflow muffler (on that same link)? thanks for all ur replys
id get the whole system if thats what you like warpspeed. I have had no problems with my y-pipe from them. 590 is a good price for the whole exhaust. If you have money, then go for it, you were going to spend that much on just a catback alone.

this is the only thing i've heard of it...from Maxmods
Pacesetter Catback
Description: Some people like theirs, others say it's cheap and it rusts easily. Overall a poor quality catback. It is made out of aluminized steel, has 2.25" diameter piping, is mandrel bent, has a resonated B-pipe, the muffler has a chrome 4" tip and comes painted black.
Possible problems: Whole catback rusting, one member had it rust completely through in 25k miles

I hope to have a new car within 3-4 years and keep the max on the side until I die, so if it rust through, would i just have to get a new exhaust system, or will the rust cause more damage than a simple replacement?
Let me know if anyone else has an opinion, thanks.
