3.5 help...fuel is driving me insane...
Guys i got my 3.5 in and everything basically hooked up. It cranks but will not start, I have spark. I do not have fuel. Codes were nothing major, besides cam position sensor, so i went and got a new one, after testing continuinty to ground and seeing if the thing produced voltage when touching metal to it, it was very minimal, like half a volt, i am pretty sure it should be like 5v. So the fuel issue is, I should of spent more then 20$ on a fpr, because with that hooked up i have absolutly no fuel coming out. So i took that out of the system and went straight to the damper on the 3.5, took the damper off and cranked, lots of fuel coming out. So i bolt the thing back to the rail and crank, Nothing..Pull plugs out and have no fuel on them. So basically I think I've got clogged or miswired injectors. Anyone have any info or simpliar problems here?? I am not even sure as to the best way to test the injectors, so any input is appreicated
I could take a picture later when i am home from work, but i do not have a fpr hooked up because its a cheapo one that doesnt work( no fuel after fpr at all ) Anyone know if i modified the fuel rail and bolted the 97 fpr on would it work? I thought the older one ran less pressure
its not gonna start or run with no FPR. Get a good working FPR and try again. As far as the 97 fpr, I dont think its gonna work, you need a aftermarket one and route it accordingly from the stickies. Also you briefly talked about a cps issue... is that still an issue, that can affect starting/running problems.
I rechecked codes and am not getting a cam sensor code anymore, so that shouldnt be an issue, i was hoping origionally that would fix the whole thing. I am going to try to find a FPR somewhere local tomorrow so i dont have to wait for shipping online, napa, pepboys, and advance auto parts dont have it. Napa can order one but its $180+

I had a DE-K FPR but it was not exactly bolt on. It took me 5 minutes to modify it to make it work. And it worked great.
I recently had a similar problem, with a 17k mile DEK that sat for over 5 years- I've heard that injectors can "stick" after a long period of time of being unused (not sure how).
Anyway, mine wouldnt start either (totally dry crank) so I ended up cranking it for no longer than 10-15 seconds straight then letting it sit for about 5 minutes, then repeating the process for about a 1/2 hr until it finally started to fire on a few cylinders.
once I got it so I could feather the throttle to keep it running (3 or 4 cylinders firing), I took a slow spin around the block in low gear keeping the RPM around a steady but gentle 3k. Once I got it back in the garage it suddenly cleared up and ran smooth as glass, it's been cleared up ever since.

hey, i wouldn't get a Adjustable FPR from napa and such....
they have cheap ones too.
save your money, order one from online, (Brand name) and wait for it.
Trust me, i was in the same shoes as you were.
imagine ordering an fpr from napa and it doesn't work, mind as well get ones that everyone is using here on this forum.
Good luck.

Heres an update, I went out this morning and got another FPR, havent opened the package, but when i got home i tried something different, I pulled the return line hose off my tee and ran from the fuel filter to the old FPR, ( the aftermarket one i baught that i thought didnt work) and with the adjustment all the way down, so max fuel pressure i am only getting 40psi, and then it drops, But she does start, for only a second and then dies out
I havent taken pic, but I have fuel filter line, straight to fpr, then straight to fuel rail. That is the way it will start and die out. I had it, fuel filter, to tee, from tee went to return line, and fpr, and the other fpr to fuel rail. When i had it setup with the tee it would not start whatsoever, it seemed as though fuel was just going straight back to the tank because i had no fuel coming from my regulator what so ever... The style filter i am running is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Unive...spagenameZWDVW
that is a megan racing kit and is garbage.
what do you need to do to use the DEK fuel stuff so i can take advantage of the 240sx factory return line? I have seen that the 350z guys run dual fuel pumps with custom rails that t to 1 return line. anyone have experiance with that ?

Whats the best FPR, what do most use? I am looking into getting a AEM possibility, whats the opinion on those? They seem reputable, but doesnt look like theres a guage, so i wonder how you would get it set correctly?
