just a few days ago, i've recently found it very very difficult to shift it into gears, but this only happens occasionally. it probably happened 4 times for about 2 mins each time, within the past 3 days. it would be very difficult to throw it in gear, i would have to use about 6X's the force. and on 1 of the 4 occasions, the clutch was kinda sticky, like it didnt want to pop up. but then after about 2-3 seconds after i lifted my foot up, it finally popped out. do you know what might be causing the problem? thanks

what year is your car? just asking cause it doesnt seem old enough to have problems with the master cylinder. usually when the clutch feels sticky, thats the problem. just my opinion, im not a mechanic though.

i have a '97, for the few minutes, it was very difficult to throw into every gear, and the clutch only stuck once. its really weird though because i can drive normally and then all of a sudden, it becomes hard to throw the gears around, then a few mins later, everything's back to normal...

Check the fluid level in your clutch master cylinder reservoir. Replenish as needed.

Next time you have this hard-shifting symptom try pumping the clutch pedal 3-4 times before moving the gearshift lever to the next gear. It may make shifting easier. Post your findings on this thread.

Things which can cause excessive effort to shift gears with a manual transmission ...
- worn synchronizers
- low lubricant level in transmission
- damaged pilot bearing
- dragging clutch
- bent or cracked clutch release lever
- defective clutch actuator
.. low fluid level
.. air in clutch hydraulic system
.. internal leak in clutch master cylinder
