GForce ECU in 97 Maxima 5 Spd
For testing purposes I was able to borrow maximadriver.com's GForce/UPRD ECU. It's a 96 ECU with the programming. I put it in my car and tested back to back 1/4 mile runs at Carlsbad. I ran 4 times (3 with ECU, once without).
Due to some issues with launching I wasn't able to reproduce similar 60' times with the GForce ECU. I pulled a 2.29 60' time on the stock ECU, but when I went to the GForce using the same launch technique I spun like crazy and got a 2.46 60' time, but managed to get the same exact 1/4 mile time.
The next run was a 2.4 60' and the last run was a 2.35. I just couldn't get the thing from not breaking out in first. One more time I could've for sure.
Anyways, my best run was the 2.35 reaction time one. Although I never got a decent launch with the UPRD ECU I did manage to beat that 1/4 mile time and get 1.5-2 mph higher in the trap.
After thorough analysis of all the timeslips I can safely say that the GForce ECU in the 97 Maxima is good for .2 seconds, which isn't all that bad.
Now, this ECU helps after about 3000 RPM, but in first and second you don't really feel the difference because the gears are so fast, but 3rd gear it revs much faster. I didn't run it hard in 4th or 5th, but cruising in 5th it seemed I had much more available power.
I say the mod gives you the same power boost as the ypipe did. Definately a must for people looking into going N/A. On a 96 it probably yields .3 to .4 seconds difference.
That sums it up.
Anyways my times at the track were all 15.1's @ 93-95 (this track everyone runs slow). Last time I went to this track my best was a 15.3. However, if I could get my launch down into the 2.2*'s like I was doing with the stock ECU (need to relearn how to launch this thing) I could've easily done a 14.8-14.9 at this track.
OgreDave's 8PSI Supercharged Automatic ran 14.8's and a 5spd S/c Max ran 14.6's at this track. Oh yeah and a brand new stock S2000 ran a 15.0. A new Benz E55 ran a 14.4. I honestly feel this track to either have inadequate timing eqipment (almost everytime the MPH indiciated is ridiculously off). Unfortunately, in Southern Cali we don't have many tracks left.
Oh yeah, my Service Engine Soon indicator came on because of the rear O2 sensor issue with the 97 Maxima, but I can live with that.

new 1/4 track opening up in september.
theres always www.lacr.net
its a 1 second off, but way more accurate than carlsbad.
carlsbads clock is off nasty style, thus i didnt want to go to get more gay timeslips.

That was with the mad wack launch.. timeslips are still in the car.
14.8's were in the right lane, where i got lots of spin on 18s.. good stuff.

Very nice Dave! Wow, you ran with your 18s on? While those are good numbers, you think you could get even lower E.T. times? You have the 3.48 pulley right? Did you left it Drive or manually shift? I assume you left in Drive because you have Don's VB mod. Any thoughts about getting the 3.25 pulley anytime soon? I know Y2KevSE have the 3.25 pulley in his SC car. I wish he run it at the track, so we all know how well it can do.
What do you all think it will take for an automatic Maxima to hit 13s? Supercharger with 3.25 pulley? Don's VB mod? Torque converter upgrade? Anything else?
60 shot will get you 13's with an auto

funny enough.. i also told them its the same mph on the 96 because I saw it on Bretts car that ran 15.1 all day without the ECU and 14.9 all day with teh ECU.. even with Adam aka My 4DSC behind the wheel .. the car wouldn't go over 14.9 and it is a 5spd 96 with the works

I am with you on that even though I got mixed up with the Jet ECU. Some people swear it works though.
Cumalot: Yah, i ran with full everything.. seats, box of stuff (not sub box) in trunk, 18s, blah blah.. foglight off in my front seat.. I let it shift itself, i braketorqued it once, it didnt do jack..
What would it take to get 13s? I dunno, a track thats reliable, to start with? That track is pretty bad. My 14.6 timesheet is @ 84mph .. does that sound right to you?
Oh yah, all my 60fts were like 2.45 and the 14.6 was like 2.35 .. first 3 runs ever.. hopefully ill figure out how to "launch" better.. auto, you know.

14.6 at 87mph? Yes, that does sound weird. I think your trap speed should be around the low to mid 90s. I had a 15.5 at 89mph. at the track I went to. So, the track you raced at must been bad for everyone.
No his trap should be higher than mine because when we raced I left him at the line by about 1/2 length then he beat me by about 1 length at the end. My trap was an indicated 83 MPH but usually is like 94-95. He was going faster than me, I imagine his trap was about 97.

Ah well, theres always another time. BTW, i ran with MIL. My MIL has been comin on the last 3 weeks.. kept turnin it off (reset) .. it came back today again. (took a whole week to come back this time) ..
Basically, i ran with a fried rear o2.. more money down the hole.

Sprint, just because someone doesn't post all of the time doesn't mean they don't know what they are talking about. I don't see anywhere in that link anything about you being a liar. Where are you getting this from? From what I read (and wrote) it was getting the facts straight. Don't blow it out of proportion.
I thought everyone made up after the last fight...
