3.5 V1 Supercharger Plate Question

Alright, heres my main thread where my question is NOT Being answered so I figured I would post here. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=499699

The Oil Cooler (coolant) line that runs from the 3.5 Thermostat housing to the oil pan, how critical is that ??
I mean, can you remove that totally with no ill effects ?? Lemme know what you think about doing away with that coolant line and the ill effects if any ??

i think that you should not remove that hose...there is a pipe that goes to the oil cooler and then the hose your talking about recirculates the hot coolant from the oil cooler to the thermostat to be recooled from the incoming coolant from the radiator.... if you remove that the oil temp will rise and could possibly cause the coolant temp to rise, but im not sure on that part...

Not too familiar with the VQ35 since i just came from the SR20....

Hope this helps out. i would post a pic of the cooling system from the FSM but im not sure how to do that from my comp.

The VQ runs quite hot. This coolant line helps warm up the oil in cold weather and cool it in the summer. Did you notice the power steering oil circulates through the rad too? If NISSAN has decided to cool the tranny, power st. and engine oil, they must know something. That something is the extra heat caused by the 190-203F. thermostat needed to meet emissions.

If you decide to plug the water line to the cooler, I would recommend you get an aftermarket oil cooler. Blocking it will not impede the water flow to the engine. May I suggest a colder thermostat if you plan on using a different housing. Have fun.
