I just picked up a '96 I30t and I want to do some things to it : )...However, i can find absolutely no performance products for this car. This is somewhat discouraging considering the fact that i sold my previous car (190e MB) hoping to find a car with more of an aftermarket following. Could i use products designed for the max since the two cars are very very similar? Besides the subtle exterior differences, what else is different between a '96 maxima and a '96 I30T...
thanks

All performance mods for a 96 Maxima will fit a 96 I30. Appearance mods are totally different, but any exhaust, intake, or suspension mod from a 96 Maxima will fit your car.

I say you should start with your suspension because it is softer than the Maximas suspension. My friend has a 98 I30T and it handles good but not compared to the SE Maximas.
Plus, his car is a little slower because it is heavier. Good Luck!!

It stands for, Front Strut Tower Brace. Its the bar/brace that goes over the engine.

Front Tower Strut Stabilizer bar. Mounts in the engine compartment and spans from the top of each strut. Because our cars are unibody constructed, this will help eliminate body flex. Courtesy Nissan among other sources sells them. They also sell one for the rear of the car. It stretches through the trunk just about 5 inches behind the back seat. You can install both your self with minimal tools...

Daniel,
The photos show cutting part of the car body. Which cars needed this work? Mine didn't. The first strut bar I had for the rear was going to need some cutting but I sent it back since the Courtesy rear goes in without cuts.

I also sent you another post about ignition kits (Like Crane Cams) for Max. Did you see it?

The photo shows cutting an unused bracket which is on '99 Maximas. The Courtesy FSTB on my '99 has a notch in the end plate so no cutting was required.

I was unaware that anyone could send me posts. No, I haven't seen it.

I didn't do a direct post. I had a question about ignition kits. I wondered if you had ever installed one in any 4th gens or seen one. I wondered if any benefit could be realized from one of these. I see ignition kits for other recent model imports. You can e-mail at schroeder_jimm@hotmail.com if you like.

By the Way. Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulley and belts arrived today. Installation this weekend. If you lived in Houston I could get you to do the work.

RE: I30CeFiRo

Damn, nice I30 I30CeFiRo. Does it perform as good as it looks? Know any 0-60 & 1/4 mile times?

My principal interest is diagnosis and repair of stock Nissan vehicles. Prompted by your post, I went to the Crane Cams web site and searched their ignition kit catalog. There was no listing for the 4Gen Maxima. This is not surprising, as the 4Gen uses direct coil-on-plug ignition which is really excellent.

Thanks Daniel. I thought that some other vendor might be making one if needed. That is two opinions that say the ignition system is best left alone.

I30

hey I'm driving an I30, I have found that there are a lot of limitations to mods. There are differences between the max and the I. You can't use max mufflers on I30's. The hanger configuration is wrong, plus the heat deflectors on the I are in the way for a max muffler. HKS is the only one I know of that is spefically made for the I. You can get one for the max(but it will have to modified for proper placement.) So you'll spend hundreds of bucks on your shiney new muffler to have someone take a torch to it to put new hanger mounts on it.
