the cattman headers are stainless steel. they came coated with a "Jet Hot" type spray looks "gray" on the y-pipe portion and part of the rear headers. When they were new the non coated parts were very shiny, but since they are used it looks not as shiny. let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello, Iam intrested in these, but this will be my first set of headers that i will buy if I do. - Need to know, will I still pass smog if install these? Is intstallation easy on my 01 maxima se? And how louder were these? And did u have a shop install or u did?(if so how much was it for installation).

if you have no clue, you'll probably need a shop
i think you need to jack up the motor a little to get the rear headers in, right?

I never smoged my car when I had my headers so I can't say. I've read that people have passed smog with headers when they allowed their cars to warm up before testing.

I had the full Cattman setup, headers + exhaust and it is much louder than stock, but I loved the sound of an aftermarket setup. I floored it every chance I could and I always got compliments from friends and strangers about how "un-ricey" it sounded. You will hear a drone on the freeway, but music can easily drown that out. While I had it on the last 2 years I've never gotten pulled over by Irvine PD for my setup(they are known to be very ****).

I installed the headers myself with the help of a friend. It was our first time installing headers so it took about 8-10 hours. Everything fit perfectly and I had no problems with the installation. There is no need to raise the engine, you just have to work around the tight space and everthing will fall into place. This is not a easy installation so do you research and prepare ahead of time before you start taking apart your car.

They are Gen 1 headers. Same as mine carbon steel ceramic coated. Gen 2's are stainless.

there are org members with Gen 1 Cattman headers on their 03 Maximas, which are exactly the same as mine. If you call Brian Catts he can explain how it fits both 3.0 and 3.5 or do a search.

Wow headers make that big of a power hugh? I never really noticed that big of a gain on my 99' with y-pipe (15-20 hrspwr). I can't imagine spending $800.00 + for that small of a gain. And where the hell are all the turbo and s/c kits for the 3.5? There are enough maximas and altima people that want them. People make kits for all the damn econo cars.

they fit 99 to 03 because the exhaust ports are identical on both engines. But you will need to plug the egr hole for 02 and 03 maximas. Bung plug is less then 10 bucks at the dealer

Will the header/y-pipe combo be okay on my '02 Maxima if I haven't upgraded the mid-pipe and the exhaust?
