Stupid question regarding chain guides (3.5 swap)
Stupid question regarding chain guides (3.5 swap)
hey, i posted a picture of my swap progress and nismology said "hey you forgot a guide"...and i thought he meant the one by the water pump i put on backwards at the time...so i disregarded it...i took apart my 3.0 today (first time ever taking apart a 3.0 or looking at the timing setup) to put it in pieces in storage in case i sell parts over time...
i realized i didnt put on the guide below the water pump and above the crank sprocket...i am super pissed because i already put on my outer cover, mounted the engine mount, etc etc...and i turned the crank a bunch of times...so i would need to remove all that stuff and reset the primary chain timing..do you think this guide is absolutely necessary or you think i could ignore it? i think i already know what you people will say, but im posting it anyway.

Dude, it's not even in the car yet and you're dreading taking the timing cover off! DO IT! And be sure to clean all the rtv out of the bolt holes as best you can.
hah yea true. im being lazy. my g/f even told me to take the cover off and put it in hah. shes so cute, she was like 'why dont you just do it now instead of turning it on and having it jump a tooth'. ive been teaching her too much about automobiles.
