WTB: Subframe in Nashville area.

You know, the one that the engine crossmember and steering rack mount to. Apparently mine has stripped threads where the rear crossmember bolts screw in and they won't hold any torque.

I'd really like to be able to pick it up so preferably I'd like to find on within about an hour or so of Nashville.

Thanks.

Paul

Your going about this the wrong way. It's alot of work to change the
k-member. Either re-tap the holes or have the cross member welded to the k-member.

I took it to the Infiniti dealer today just to see what they would suggest and they said to retap the holes, they need to remove the subframe (doesn't make sense to me at all) which would cost $450, or they could replace the subframe which is going to cost about $500 just for parts plus about $800 in labor. First of all, that is why I wanted a used subframe from a parts car and I would be doing the labor myself.

I'm going to try to find someone who can retap the holes without removing the subframe.

Retaping the holes shouldn't be an issue with the k-member on the car. The only thing that would be in the way is the y-pipe. It's doable though with it in the way.

Do you know what needs to be removed to take the k-member out of the car?

taking out the crossmember (not the subframe) is just four bolts and the motor mount bolts that mount to the engine. not bad at all assuming that your subframe threads aren't stripped like mine.

It turns out that someone on here has a subframe to sell me, but even still I found a machine shop locally that will try retapping the subframe on the car for much less than the Infiniti dealership was going to charge. I may go that route, but then replace it when I have some time.

Well if you were local i would give you a k-member/subframe. There not worth anything but there weight in metal.

I was asking you if you knew what was involved in replacing the k-member/subframe. It's no easy job.
I would personally retap the holes and be done with it.
