Since I just broke one, my mechanic says go ahead and drive my 400 mi round trip. I know we talked a little about this, but he has me kind of worried so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any specific threats there. Any other comments, or any warnings about that? Also, am I just as safe w/ fstb installed and only 5 bolts, or should I keep the brace off until it gets fixed? That is, do you think the fstb will put added stress on the remaining bolts? Thanks.

i think the FSTB will add stress to it. i would change it ASAP. while only using 2 of 3 bolts, the 2 bolts are now working 33% harder, and i think thats a lot. with the FSTB too, it will add more stress when taking turns. my opinion would to get the bolt replaced asap. anyone correct if they see otherwise.

Well, just don't hammer any turns as hard, and the fstb won't be loading up as much. Bolts are generally quite oversized, so as long as you take it easy you won't even come close to the operating limits for the bolts.
