Noisy climate control fan?
Noisy climate control fan?
Ever since I have had my car, the fan that pulls in air in the passenger's footwell has made a ticking noise. The ticking noise gets faster and slower with the selected fan speed. It's not very loud, but is definitely noticable if you don't have the stereo on.
I've never been in another 4th gen Maxima, my question is whether this is just a characteristic of the car or not.
I remember when the fan went out in my old Acura Legend (the original fan didn't tick), I replaced it with an Autozone fan that ended up having a fairly loud ticking noise. So, I don't want to replace the fan in the Maxima with an aftermarket fan.
Basically, if it's just a characteristic of the car, then I'll let it go. Otherwise, maybe I'll try and clean it and put some WD-40 on it or something.

Just wanted to follow up on the eventual solution to this problem. I took out the intake fan behind the glove box and cleaned the fan real well. I also put some wd40 on the actual spinning mechanism. Now, the ticking is gone!
