White cars with % tint v. noob question

So I passed along the max and just picked up a fully loaded Altima SE in white. I'm looking to get tint but will be relocating to Cali within the next 2 months. I had 20% on my max but i had it installed 4 years ago and it faded, so I can't use that as comparison.

I'm looking to get either 20% or 35%, but I'm afraid it would be too light. Please give your opinions or post pictures.

no. same percentage all around.

20% looks too dark.....35% looks too light. Anyone have anything in between? 25 or 30%?

The Altima has sharper lines that the windows will look darker no matter what percentage. Do 35% on the sides, and 20% on the rear window alone. It will even out, and make the car darker than 35% all around, but not dark enough for 20% all around. you will avoid many cops this way also. I will look for some pics later of at least 2 locals that have it like that.

Here's a pic of mine at 30% under direct sunlight. I am pretty happy with it, but if I were to do it again, I would get 20% all around. It's definitely an improvement if you've never had tint before and looks dark enough when the sun isn't beating down on it. I personally would not get the front tinted a different % than the rears, unless it's like 35%F 30%R. To me, it just looks tacky and breaks the overall flow of the car. I'll post some more pics later tonight when it's darker.

I've got 28% tint...

It's not too light/dark and goes great with my grey car lol. On white I really prefer 5% tint for the contrast.

28% Mainly because the shop will still cover it under lifetime warranty, and to elude the cops from taking a second glance at my car.

Only dyed tints change color to a purplish tone. Metallic tints don't do this. You shouldn't be considering dyed tints anyway.

Regarding cops in So Cal... I just received a tint ticket last night. They issued it to me in addition to a citation for not signaling during a lane change . I probably could have avoided it if I let the a$shole pig search my car but I didn't do anything wrong and refused to have my 4th Amendment right violated.

i got 35% all around on my white 6th gen, and 15% on the back window. it's way to light for my taste, but then again i have a tan interior. your black interior will help making the tint look darker than it actually is.

I highly recc 20% on the back window, 5% on the sunroof, and 35% down the sides. the darker tint on the back will drop the appearance of the tint on the sides, yet still be light enough for the night, or if some popo is scrutinizing you.

I am looking to do the same on mine (28% on front windows, 20% on rear windows, 15% on rear windshield -- abiding by FL laws ). But mine is precision grey with charcoal interior, so don't know whether it would look as good as yours or not. Any suggestions?

Can anyone suggest one or more tint shops in FL (Orlando, space coast, brevard county) that do good work at a reasonable price?

Thanks, it's the LLumar film.

I was origanly going to go w/ the 35% but I'm really happy I went a little darker w/ the 20%.

I'm sure it'll look just as good w/ the precision grey

Thanks. I have little knowledge about the films. Who manufactures LLumar? Are LLumar and FormulaOne's Pinnacle the same type of film?

I went to a tint shop today and they work with FormulaOne's products only. I wanted to get the Pinnacle series as that is the only one among FormulaOne's films which does not interfere with satellite communication, radio signals, etc. The Pinnacles come in 15% and 35% films only, nothing in between. According to FL law, the front windows have to be at least 28% and rear windows and rear windshield 15%. So I am left with no choice but to use 35% in the front windows

I want 15% in the rear windshield. I am not decided whether to go for 15% or 35% for the rear side windows. Any ideas about how each would look?

If you get a good, high quality tint, they usually have guarantees on fading. I have 35% tint that has better heat rejection rates than many 5% tints and it's not very 'metallic'. The tint brand is sun-gard i think.

Anything darker than 35% on the front will get you pulled over in SoCal. I went 35% all around (see sig), and it's enough to keep the interior cool, cops away and still offer some level of privacy. If the cops can't see your face because the tint is too dark, that's when you start getting tickets. Madico Charcool 35% below (NOT charcoal). I liked it a lot so I'm going with the same brand again for the new car.

I just bought some pre-cut HP-50 (50%) 3M tint for my 4th gen. I would have gone with 30% but I didn't want to risk failing inspection. One of my friends go theres tinted by the pros with 3M for $300 and it looked awesome. The precut kit only cost $50 plus shipping. He's going to be pissed when I tell him. lol

I have a white car, will post pics once I am all done.
