What is your gas mileage?

Ok, so i know this has been done a whiles back but i want to know to this date what the fellow maxima org members are getting in mileage from there cars.

There are two sides to the poll for the 5 speeds and for automatics.

Also please be polite and don't click the pole if you don't intend to post your mileage and what you done to get your car to be getting such mileage i would like to see an accurate pole. Also read that it is asking mileage per gallon on the street.

Well, lately, my car (89 Auto GXE) has been getting about 250 miles per tank. What is that?

bro im luckily getting 21 to the gallon becuase of all the repairs i have done. new nismo 62 degrees celcius aftermarket thermostat, cold air intake system. Fixed and repaired all leaking vacuum hoses. Replaced some cracked coil on plugs. Upgraded spark plugs NGK Iriduim 4. Cleaned Throttle body and IACV. Replaced all motor and transmission mounts. And i think that about covers most of the problems that had lowered my gas milage before.

O also replaced catalitic coverter

On the highway I get up to 29 mpg average, and that's not at 55mph!

i see the difference it makes from the VE to the VG. i gues the VE's are more gas guzzlers then the VG's are lol.

well i have a 2000 5spd and voted tht 15-22, as i was getting 21mpg driving mostly highway.. i just changed my spark plugs to ngk v-powers and already see i'm gettin the gas mileage i'm supposd to.. apparently i drove until it started stalling when not in gear.. haha
still on the first full tank so don't really know what it will be yet, but i usually get around 315 miles per tank, but i think this one will be at 350 if not greater. will edit upon fill-up of tank if poll is still on front page

other than plugs, i haven't done anything else this month. well i did recharge my A/C, but doubt that helps over windows up w/ drag

EDIT: just filled up today as gas is cheap and i think it will surge up next week due to two week drop; gas mileage was 25.4 mpg, best i've gotten
i think i will stick with these copper plugs and not go back to platinum

I get about 24 MPG consistently commuting to work. Considering I sit in traffic in some of it, I can't complain. Actually, I am surprised it does do as well as it does for a 3.0 L.

The lowest mileage I've ever gotten was 21 MPG. If it's all highway, this car is awesome. I can get 30 MPG and that's not at 55 MPH either :-)

I don't do anything special, really. I use cheap Pennzoil 10W-30 oil. Just make sure the car is aligned and the tires are properly inflated. I do use A/C when I need it.

Had to vote 0 .......................

We drive in distances of km and use liters of fuel.

I know 1 mile is 1.6 km (constant on the whole of the surface of the earth) but how many liters in your particular gallon there?

I thought the EPA rating was 19city/26hwy. BTW, how many gallons to a tank?

VE 5-speed

On the highway, about 27-30 mpg going 70-80 mph on average.

The last trip I took in April, I went to about 425 miles on the same tank before filling and it was just over 15 gallons.

Around town, probably more like 18-20 mpg, but I tend to have a lead foot around town and my town is pretty small with a lot of stop signs and 25 mph zones.

we use liters and km here too, this is how i converted. it cost me $63 to fill at $1.12/liter, which works out to 56.25 liters. that lasts me 450 km, so 450 divided by 56.25 = 8 km per liter
now the easy part, go to google and type in 8 km per liter in mpg it automatically converts it, mine came to 18.8 mpg. google will convert lots of other units as well if you just type it in.

Sounds like you might have a hole somewhere in your tank or fill tube maybe if you cant get more then 14.2 gallons.

And as for highway i really don't know yet as i haven't took my maxima for a good nice road trip since my last one to Mt. Rainier which doesn't count because i coasted most of the way back down and ended up getting 23 miles per gallon.

As for for my street mileage i am getting 21.88 per gallon and i live in a pretty good populated area that has alot of traffic since i travel from Spanaway to Tacoma to Lakewood with alot of stops lights everywhere you go.

My bad EPA rating state MPG

(city)
18

MPG (highway)
24

MPG (combined)
20

But don't state weather thats for a SE or GXE and also don't state weather for automatic or 5 speed. That makes there findings to vast.

I get 20-27mpg as is. 20-25 in town depending on how I treat the right pedal, and consistantly 26-27mpg at 75+ with under sized tires (killer on mpg) and exhaust leaks. I'm sure I can get 29+ after I fix all of the leaks and get new tires.

Thats VG-5. As for VE's its not that they suck more gas, its the owners enjoy them more. VE's should get better mileage because they are higher compression. IE when cruising it should be possible to get 1-3 more mpg then a VG.

I've never gotten anything below 23 in town, I usually get 28-30 on the highway with 214K on the original engine with nothing replaced but the alternator, spark plugs, and vacuum lines. The best mileage I've gotten is 33 on straight flat highway driving.

I usually get 24-25 (VE) running mostly highway miles to and from work with the AC running the entire time. I usually run around 75 mph. It seems the faster I go, the better mileage it gets though. I had a trip in January where I got 30 mpg round trip (250 miles each way) running significantly faster than my usual 75ish for the entire trip.

I just swapped in a 5-speed and my gas mileage increased mildly. I was getting horrible gas mileage with my auto, but now its not so bad.

set your trip to zero, run it until the fuel light comes on, fill it up (until pump handle clicks off), divide trip mileage by gallons filled.

18.5 gallon capacity, but that doesn't mean you're using all of it. I once refilled 18.2 gallons, and my car was sputtering for the last 2 minutes prior to pulling into the gas station.

for example an hour ago, i filled 10.77 gallons after driving 221.1 miles. That's about 20.5MPG for me.

wow, that's pretty crazy. i don't think i could ever push it that far. the most i've ever filled up on my vg was maybe 14.8 gallons, and i thought that was pushing it.

happened to me too, i actually ran out of gas with the maxima, and it happened twice with the camaro - but that gas gauge is more inaccurate as the needle creeps down from full to 1/2 then it rockets from 1/2 to empty

good thing i ran out next to a station though. I was about to hit the interstate and just get gas at my destination a couple miles down the highway.... good thing I didn't.

Saw the poll on the front page, so here's my input. LoL I would've thought the VQ was a real gas guzzler compared to the 3rd gen. Not bad engineering from Nissan.

Will keep an eye on this thread, because I wonder if anyone else experiences lower MPG after adding performance mods.

But I guess it should be correct since it causes the car to run rich.

Currently at 23.5 MPG ... 2k3 auto.

I do a lot of highway driving though.

Before the mods my regular gas mileage was 25.4 judging by the MPG display.

19" Privat
Injen
Y-pipe
Custom catback exhaust

After those mods I noticed it going down.

It's probably the 19s that are hurting your mileage more than the other mods
