Ordering a LSS y-pipe tommorow, Anything I need to prep for?

I am also getting a A Greddy Sp2 catback sometime next week too. damn they are expensive...

So I am gonna order it from LSS(budget) when they open. And know how do it and all cause I been working on cars for a looong time and I know my stuff. but this is my first y-pipe on my 99 SE and all I wanted to know is if there is anything I needed before I get the y-pipe shipped to me. I really can't afford 3 o2 sensors @ $60 bucks a pop, so I hope I can save the old ones.

I got all the tools but I need to pick up some O2 sockets. I have an sick Air gun and all so I hope I don't have an issue taking off the pipe from the headers cause I have no heat at all. (Which I always used in school for exhaust)

Also someone told me that some y-pipes come with 4 bung holes when u only use 3. IS this true with this budget pipe?

Thanks for any input from people who bought this pipe.

The bolts at the headers will be fine. The problem bolts are the ones that are near your cat.... Those will be rusted to ****.....

Well first off it sounds like your well prepped for the job at hand. I ordered a y-pipe from warpspeed (just about the same as LSS), and i believe that there are 3 bungs on the y and one on the header precat (cali-spec). The major thing (seeing as how you are a 99) I would recommend is find out if your car is Federal Spec or California Spec, and order your pipe accordingly. Other than that, buy a y-pipe installation kit and hit up the bolts with a little WD-40 a couple of days in a row, and you should be good to go.

Buy all new genuine Nissan gaskets from the dealer, that'll save you a lot of headaches down the line. I've had a budget y-pipe for a while now and I never had any install problems. I've also had an SP2 for even longer... nice sounding setup, you won't be disappointed.

Federal Spec I am sure of it, The car was bought over here. SO I would assume is... yah, I been looking at exhausts for over year and I really been contemplating on which ones to get, I finally decided on the sp2. Sure it is expensive but I heard the warranty is nice. O BTW where can I find the best price for it? I am looking @ one on ebay for $556 shipped)

Thats about the best price your going to find on the sp2. Also i wouldnt assume that your federal spec, because i bought my car in VA and it was on the east coast for its entire life and its a cali spec. I think theres a section in the FAQ's on how to determine if you have a cali or fed through the vin, but the easiest way i found is to look under the hood right in front of your valve cover. If you have 2 sensors then its fed, if you have 4 its cali. Let me know if ya need any more info.

Ok, I just called them up and ordered it... really nice lady. She answered all my questions and everything went great. O and yah, I am fed spec. Like I thought.

She said she will ship it out tomorrow and it will be here in like 4-5 days. Also she seemed to charge me more than what I seen on other forums but I guess it is fine cause I really need one mainly because mt flex section is tearing and I could use the extra power these give.

She said it would cost me like $190 US with ship so like $225 total. Some people said they got them for $165 with ship.

Whos installing it for you, these stuckup a** f**** here in cleveland wont touch my car if im not buying their highly marked up garbage. I found a hard up muffler shop to install it for $100 (only tard that will), and my magnaflow for $60.

If you didnt know, theres a member here whos I think in Boston only charges $20 freakin dollars id hit him up if you already have'nt.

Get simulators for your O2 sensors or you might get a check engine light!

Don't buy a greddy sp2 wayyyy to expensive. I would go with a tsudo muffler and a magnaflow cat. Sounds the same way cheaper no bees in a can or any of that bs.

really? You don't think I should get an Sp2? I don't know what else I can get that sounds awesome. I heard about the magnaflow but I don't know what site has them.

And I am installing it... it is on my 1st post. I also used to be a mechanic(hence my proficient knowledge on cars and repair)

B pipe is cheap. hangers is not a problem just go get some clamps and put it around the pipes... get a screw and a drill and make your own hangers. An exhaust shop did this for me after my muffler kept falling.

Got my SP2 hooked up to my Budget Y pipe and stock cat after work yesterday. No wonder I couldn't break the bolts on it. They were frozen 5 years after I had the Budget B pipe on. The shop that sold the SP2 to me charged me $60Cdn and that was reasonable because everyone else wanted nearly $100. Took longer than expected because one bolt head sheared off on the cat, leaving the rest of the bolt still in the hole.

Anyhow, because the SP2 is a straight-through design the noise level is a little higher than with the stock muffler I had on. I got the bling look for the back end and a bit more growl that I wanted. I just have to drive it more today to burn off the smell. I didn't expect the tip to be that big. It looks like a cannon back there. The tip sticks out about an inch or so but it does line up with the edge of the body kit on the rear bumper. Personally I would have preferred it to be flush with the bumper.

Being S/C'ed the free flow design does help throttle response.

I'm pretty busy this coming week doing a tranny rebuild and some other stuff anyways, and if you know what your in for in terms of power increase........well......I bet you'd have it in before I could have a chance. However, I'll come pick your stock y-pipe and give you $20 for it when I'm heading up to NED so don't throw it away.
