so im borrowin my friends car so i dont destroy mine, when the clutch blows. and i was cruising down the highway, when all the sudden it dies, so i look and the gas gauge was at the top of e, so i think, ****, i ran outta gas. so i pull over, walk to get some gas, then come back and the car still doesnt start. i try for a while, then i look at some fuses. the fuel pump is fine, but the engine control was blown. so i change it, and it blows when i go key on. this happens several more times with differing amperages. so i look under the hood, and try to locate some grounds and make sure they are secure. so i go and try again, and it starts.

does anyone have a wiring diagram for that circuit, or any ideas for what would cause it to blow out of nowhere?

 

A going bad altenator made my fuse pop twice. Could be a short somewhere though.

ya i was in rushhour traffic. i was lucky i was in the far left lane.

 

That fuse can blow for all sorts of reasons. Mine was blowing because of input shaft bearing debris shorting out the position switch. Luckilly I was able to diagnose the problem because the engine would die when I moved the shifter. Figure out what actions cause it to die and go from there. Sounds like you're on the right track seeing how it actually started after you messed with the grounds.

 

i wasnt doing nethin out of the ordinary. just driving down the highway in 5th at about 75, and it just died.

 

look at your o2 sensor. it's on the same circuit and can easily pop the fuse. It's done it to people here before. Simplest test is to unplug the o2 and see if it still does it.

 

not sure if this could contribute. but the temp gauge works intermittantly. on the way to work this morn, it did. driving home, it didnt. but the fuse hasnt blown since yesterday
