My First Time @ Track With Max

Went to the track for the first time tonight with the 4th gen and had some good fun. Only got 2 passes as I needed to be home to pick my kid up and didnt leave work early as planned so yea,2 runs. On top of that the fist pass I made the timeslip came out unreadable...the girl at the booth said she was in between ink ribbons or some crap so I have no idea what i ran the first passbut it felt slightly better than the second pass whic I have the slip for,not much better but I ran the passes back-to-back without shutting down or anything, just got right back into line and idle to the stage area. Either way...had fun.

97 GXE Auto
WAI w/stock resonator
DR Mod
Catback on stock Y-pipe(my warpspeed rotted, stock back on for now)
Full trunk...subs/amp/spare tire.
ATCO,NJ
90 degrees...very muggy

R/T:465
60':2.416
330:6.637
1/8:10.327@69.81mph
1000:13.362
1/4:15.97@86.53mph

Spun the tires a good bit at launch, probably cause they suck, and i felt weird right after the 2-3 shift....kinda like a mild bog or hesitation. Not sure, didnt notice it on the 1st pass but on the 2nd pass it certainly felt some kinda "bog"...dunno. Going back next thursday minus the trunk o' crap and gonna get new tires this week so I'll see what happens. I have some video but my bro-in-law seemingly hasnt came along with the digital revolution as h had no idea hw to work the camera...somehow he managed to change the video resolution to "LOW"...needless to say the quality is terrible. Thanks for looking and comments welcome.

where did it rot through? You'll do better with an empty trunk and new shoes.

About 6 inches from the junction on the longer of the two pipes. I bought it reallycheap from an org. member about a yea back and the guy said it was old and not in great shape but like I said it was cheap. Yea bro my tires are laughable....I sold the 5th gen rims i just bought about 2 months after buying them as I found a local guy who has a set of 350Z rims with good tires for an amazing price but his work schedule has been crazy over the past few weeks so getting together for a bit to swap his off so he can put his new Volks on. I didnt want to buy new rubber for stock rims I'll never use again. Also I suppose the junk in my trunk(no pun intended) didnt help either huh? Also I had nearly a full tank of gas which sme guys have told me is not the best idea either...so Im still happy and figuring I could see improvement, even if just minimel.....by just follwing some basic prep ideas...and i need that damn y-pipe back...IDK if you evr went back to stock for anyreason but just as drastic the y-pipe felt after install it was tenfold when going back to stock.

ouch. I'm in the same boat with tires. Its almost a waste with worn tires to run your car on the track. Especially if there street tires.

Pretty good.... There's a Dark Green Maxima that came out to Rock Falls last time with me. He kept running 16.2's.... I was sitting on the sidelines after a couple runs when he came up for his first run (he didn't get there until 10 am'ish. The announcer was like, Alright the Maxima is back up against a civic. He's been running low 14's all day let's see if he can beat out another Honda. Bam... 16.2 @ somewhere in the 80's. I almost choked on my freakin' Hot Dog....

I thought it was just a bad run but he kept running it 16's all day. Thank god people started noticing that my car was BLACK and NOT GREEN!

Good runs though... Still ahead of many rice'd Honduh's.

hey whats up, nice to see you finally hit the track
my 1st pass in my max was a 16.3 so better times are in your future
clear out the trunk, 1/4 tank of gas, remove the rear seat, lower the front tire psi to around 25
oh and try staging swallow and launching around idle this give the car a chance to start moving before it triggers the tming light

I am planing to hit the track in a week or so with the truck and will run the max in sept. let me know when your going again and I'll do the same

Cool. I was really happy to see I was atleast where i should be even withou any prep at all...I had oer 3/4 of a tank, full trunk and some bald *** tires. I did rip a really sweet burnout thought(lol). We're going ack thursday after work so Im gonna try to prep better this time and trying to find a y-pipe somewhere local but so far no good. Hey tommy, if you happen to be going thursday bro lemme know...were gonna take the drag bike,my guy gonna make a couple practice passes, low boost,no nitrous and running the street tire cause he nver rode that thing before so we just wat him to get the feel but still should be interesting...and i would dig seeing that truck run too. I have your # still so I'll call you during the week to see whats up. Both runs i made were against my boys Civic with a b16 swap and I beat him by few tenths both runs...honestly thought he was gonna spank me but he was having some traction problems and IMO the car just isnt running right. He kept getting me off the line, was ahead at the 330 mark then just behindme at the 1/8 and by the end of the 1/4 I bet him by .5 o so both times. Cool thanks for the tips guys, gonna try them out and see what happens. I'll post the video of the second run, like I said earlier the video is terrible as it was set on low qualiy but you can see him take e off the line then I run him down.

LMAO....yea I dont know what the hell he was doing....not like it was his first time either. He goes every week so.. I didnt notice how long he as taking during the race but when I watched the video I was laughing my *** off, I called him and asked him and he said the guy at the line was telling him move over more cause it looked like he was too close to the cones..I dunno. Either way yea that was funny. I dont doubt his shift game though...hell he was launchin pretty good but the VQ just kept reeling him in.

Thanks bro. Going back out this week and feeling pretty good about atleast lowering my times a bit with a little prep this time. An damn man,a 2.0 on baldies? How did you keep them from spinnin? You can hear in the video that i spin 1st pretty hard in 1st. Maybe the track you on prepped a little better?

they FAIL the penny test completly, and the fact that NO tire place will put them on(but i can do that my self), plus the size(last pic) helps out alot

Lol....thats bad ***. Yea they are pretty big too...thats one of my problems too,I have bald *** tires+they 15 stockers=spinnage. Let me ask you this,Im looking to go bigger tires something like hat your running...will that effect my times? Just being as though they are bigger? Like if I were to run with everything the same as before but this time with tire size lik you have will it effect my times negatively?

im not sure about that, the tires i run are within the spec range for my 5.5gen. im actually lookin to get a pair/set of 16's to run at the track, and im gunna run as big as possible. i believe the more rubber on the ground the better your traction is gunna be!

Im actually getting ready to go grab some rims/tires later on tonight. A freind of mine has a set of ASA AR1's...black with the chrome lip...I really liked thm on his car and he finally sold the car now Im getting the rims. I believe they have 225/50/17 on them right now and they are pretty much brand new tires, dont remember what brand but I know he bought them about 2000 miles before he sold the car. Ithink the rim itself weighs 22 pound but I dont think thats with the tire,,,either way Im gonna try to get to the track after putting them on and see what happens.
