So i've been replacing my brakes this weekend (pads, rotors, calipers) and i ran into a little problem this afternoon...

The lower bolt on the drivers side mounting bracket will not budge! i've tried everything; PB blaster, air impact tools, even brute force...nothing!

can anyone think of another idea that may help me loosen this bolt? is there any other type of spray that may work better that pb blaster?

Heat it up with a torch.

 

so i don't have a torch....anything else

 

maybe a breaker bar?

 

buy a propane bottle from home depot or something, they come in small bottles and you just put the torch part on the bottle.

 

I used a wrench with the open end of my floor jack handle.

 

use a breaker bar with a long metal or strong pvc pipe type thing on it as an extension...thats the best way to go..... make sure u follow all the safety procedures.....

 

and dont forget to use 1/2'' or better drive bcoz i snapped my 3/8'' extension doin my brakes...

 

take a hammer and pound the crap outta of it. I had it to do it to mine, and i replaced the bolt with another one.

 

+1 for breaker bar, I believe that's the same bolt I had a problem with and the breaker bar worked well!

 

Soak it in two coats of liquid wrench, 5 min each, then a 1/2 inch socket with breaker bar and metal pipe extension. It's how I got off the front strut bolts that were caked in rust, and those babies are torqued down a LOT more.

 

2 wrenches linked end-to-end instead of breaker bar, but that's the ghetto way.
