F/S Complete VQ35DE
Up forsale is a complete Vq35DE. asking 600.00
The engine was replaced with a new one. My uncle didn't want to replace the Head Gasket.... Number 5 Cylinder had the leak... The only thing you need to do is replace the rear Head Gasket. This engine comes with the Intake Manifold, all sensors, Throttle Body, complete wiring Harness it is not cut.... Its Complete. All the other cylinders have had a leak down test, all 100% working and Compression is great. Local pickup would be great or can ship. This would be a great swap. I do not want to do the swap on my car. I bought a new car. This motor comes out of a 2002 Nissan Maxima, which has been taken care of really well. You must use synthetic Oil, since 4K miles we been using Mobil 1. The reason # 5 cylinder blew a head gasket was because the Nissan dealer we took it to, thought that there was a lifter knock, so they took the head apart and re-used the headbolts. The problem was the rear cat, there was rattle in the cat because it was falling apart seems to be an issue since this car doesn't use a EGR. They replaced the CAT... they also replaced the timing chain because they that it was streched just go's to show you they do a bad job on figuring out what was wrong with the car... So this is why it needs a headgasket. They car drove fine for 2 years after they did the work... and 20K miles later is when it blew the head gasket and I was like how the hell did blow a headgasket the motor never got hot... Just blew the headgasket.... Came to find out they did re-use the headbolts and its amazing that it actually lasted this long. The motor had 70,000 miles on it.

you can buy a perfectly working one from car-parts.com for less. I don't mean to blow up your thread but, damn. Just thought you should know.

There isn't any 3.5's there.... You can get 3.0L's for 600-650.... And yes again I'm asking 750.00, it just needs a head gasket any person that knows how to do it can get the gasket and replace it in 4 hours.... A used 3.5 L is 1400-1600 dollars... I'm not asking anyone to buy it... Do your reseearch before you try and low ball someones thread... Better yet I think I will do it myself and just keep the motor...
i think you should get this engine to the shop, have them replace the head gasket (it won't be much if its only 4 hour job, like you say it is) and then try to sell it for $1400-$1600. Keep in mind that everyone out there is trying to find a sweet deal, this just not it I guess.
I looked up on car-part.com and found some nice deals around NE at least. all under $1k, some even for less then 750, good luck though.

maybe im better off just parting it out... or replacing the head gasket myself. I mean I know the motor has been taking care og nothing but changing the oil at 3K miles and with mobil 1... I wish the dam nissan techs would have know that the Cat was bad rather than go the the rear banks of the motor to try and figure out what the rattling sound was, but they re used the head blots and this is why the gasket gave way. so maybe i rather just fix it and do a swap

ya leave this man alone. If you guys got the motor for a low price then you got a deal. You can also try ebay if none of these people want to buy your motor!
Do you think you could price out how much shipping would be to v3w6j5, vancouver canada? Im definately interested, seeing as to swap this into a a32 ill have both timing covers off, the head will be a snap to pull off and replace the head gasket. That is assuming that is all thats wrong. If shipping isnt rediculous then i will be seriously interested!

If Nissan techs are to blame shouldn't they fix it?
Also if the cat was the rattle are you sure the cat didn't come apart and cat sucked back into the engine?
I would be interested in it if i had more info.

At 60000 miles Nissan thought the rattle was the chain or tensioner so they replaced the chain and tensioner and still had a rattle. Then the took the rear head off thinking it was a valve... As there were doing that one of the techs said it prolly is the cat.... So they put the head back on and replaced the cat. No the cat particles didn't get sucked up to the motor. The motor ran fine for about 20k miles. Then it blew the head gasket... Because the techs re-used the head bolts... He confirmed it too. But since it was out of the warranty nissan said they wouldn't cover a thing.... Lokey Nissan in Clearwater...
Other then the motor just needs a rear head gasket... The mechenic did the leak down test and compression test on it and its all within spec. There are no cracks just needs the gasket...
So the motor has 80k miles on it and not 70k then?
I understand where you are at trust me,i should know i am a service manager for a Nissan dealership.
Usually most places only cover 12/12 coverage on repair work so i dunno how far you can get with it.
As far as replacing bolts head gaskets do not require replacing the head bolts unless there is a problem with them.
I've been here for 5yrs now and i dont recall ever replacing head bolts when doing a head gasket job.

They Stretch if you re-use them at times so this was the reason it blew its gasket According to my tech, The only cylinder that gasket part blew was on number 5 ... wow Im a idiot.... Im going by whats on the odo on the car now... lol No it had 73K when the gasket went... so only 13K miles later...

Try arguing that with them.

You can reuse the head bolts. But you can not reuse the headgasket. I am doing alot of headwork on alot of cars. Once you remove the head the headgasket it must be replaced. This is a very easy fix for this motor you are selling. Whomever purchases the motor just needs to replace the headgasket and tighten headbolts to specs using a good torque wrench.
umm... You know... As far as my knowledge when I was in auto mechanic school. On at least older cars and more simply design(which should still apply to new ones too)... It was ok to re-use the head bolts as long as they were in good condition, torqued properly and the head gasket was replaced as well as the bolts were torqued in the correct OEM order on how they should be torqued. SO I don't know how you ruled out that because they re-used the bolts made the gasket blow. They probably did it wrong, had stressed out bad bolts or did not put the head gasket on right, reused the gasket or did not torque properly... It's funny that a lot of places don't know that the head cannot be torqued in just ANY order.

I did go to school but did not get as advance as I am now. As long as the head bolts are removed and reused in the same order you got them there is no problem.
Problem that I found. We asked a particular dealer. From what school do you hire your ASE techs? He responded we really do not care. They look for experience. However in the end of the conversation it was more like if they like you they will hire you. This explains why some things that are not meant to break fail. You have a couple of Turds touching your car at the dealership who were just hired just because they liked you

Actually the person had ase certifications and was there like 8 years....
But your right they do hire people that shouldn't be working on your car... maybe and oil change or tire rotation, lol...
