Gonna Sell my 06

Well, I'm going through a divorce and have decided maybe its time to simplify my life by getting completely out of debt. I'm looking at $1100 a month in child support so I'm going to have to wait on the toys. The car has 30K highway miles on it and has been treated as well as could be. The car has everything mentioned in my sig as well as the factory wheels and tires (less than 800 miles on them)

What do you think I can get for my 06?

$26190 is retail
$21950 is wholesale (which dealers may give you if you trade it in)

go to www.autotrader.com and check out similar Maximas to see what the market is in your area.

I can appreciate what you are going though...I pay $1200/mo child support PLUS alimony which caused me to downsize...so I got rid of my 4x4 and convertible...but that's when I got my '06. I got it 2 mos ago...23,000 miles...all stock..perfect condition. Bought it at a dealer for 21,990.

BTW - this is the third maxima I've owned, so when I had to go down to one car it was a fore-gone conclusion what I would get. I really like the car.

Why must the car always suffer? Man I feel your pain because you have done so much to your baby love(your car) and now she has to go away. Hopefully you get back on track and get the 7th gen when it comes out.

I don't think that there are any similar Maxima's being sold in his area. His Max has a lot of aftermarket items on it that can't be accounted for in those types of selling services.

Too bad for the Max and you. Hey, as O.J. discovered, it cheaper to kill her. Just kidding.

Good luck to you.

I went through the same thing with my divorce and drove my ford f250 superduty to the dealer and told them give me what I owe which wasn't much to pay off the loan but needed to save cash for a good lawyer . They made a serious profit because the blue book was still very high. It will get better for you it just takes time!

I don't think so! The civil suit cleaned him out! He's on the same boat as chevy chase, dennis rodman, and mc hammer! LOL

OT: Sorry to hear about that situation. I hope your kids are old enough to realize what is going on, and don't repress it thinking they had something to do with it. That the way I was, I was 16 when my parents divorced, I knew what was going on and why, but I had to carry my three little sisters throught the divorce because they just didn't understand. GL to you

I'm not sure what you guys make but a person in my field(IT) typically makes about 65-70K a year. That's about $1900-$2000 per paycheck after taxes. So $1100 would be about $550 per paycheck leaving you with $1400-$1500 to play with per paycheck.

Like I said, I'm not sure what you make but you don't have to sell the Max.

I have a $1500 Mortgage and pay about $500 on several credit cards. The housing market has been hell so selling my house is going to take longer than I would like so in the meantime I have to cut back as much as I can.

Sell the mods... Take the car back stock. The dealer could care less about the aftermarket goods. Half the cars that I've seen back at the dealership get picked through by the sales/parts guys.

Yeah as if your kids are actually seeing any of the money? If I had kids i would fight life and limb so that the evil one wouldnt have custody.

My friend pays child support for his lil boy and his ex doesnt even have a job. She lives at home with her mom and dad.... yet her parents are allways saying she is Cuba, Banff, Dominican all over the place. Where do you think she gets the money to travell around?

Think about it, $1500 a month. What does it cost to feed and dress a child $200 max maybe? Upgrade to a bigger apartment $200?

Its a fuked up system.

The thing is with paying child support you know that the child possibly may not see it but you got to have some type of trust that thats what she is doing, supporting the kid(s) with it. Mine is way cheaper than you alls but still it kills some things for me that I could do. The best thing you can do is remember the purpose is for your young one(s). Dont go fleeing they have some people paying 45k or more just in back child support to get their passports. Good luck to you on the sale. Itll take sometime but Im sure youll find yourself back in a Maxima.

It can be extremely frustrating. I too pay child support to my ex, and I'm pretty sure not all of it goes toward what it's supposed to (she likes to party). She recently graduated college but was getting grants well in excess of tuition fees...basically being paid to go to school and blow the extra money on whatever. It sucks that the guys usually get hosed in court -- I know I did -- but having kids really changes your priorities and makes you grow up. I wouldn't trade my son for anything obviously, even though I know I'd love to take what I pay in child support and throw it into investments. Luckily I have a good job that allows me to support him and have some pretty nice toys. It really infuriates me to see the lowlifes that refuse to hold a job and leech off of the system (MY paycheck/our paychecks) so that they don't have to be responsible and pay child support.

Sigh. /rant

Thanks guys for the show of support. My plan is to go out there and work my *** off so I can show my ex that this is just a hiccup in my life. It's only a matter of time before I'm back on my feet and back behind the wheel of whatever car I choose to drive

Why $1200 a month? Well, in Utah child support is based on table taking into account your income and the number of children. Funny part is the ex doesn't think it's enough.

May end up keeping the max after all. I had my final mediation on Monday and decided to give her the house. I'm walking away from the equity (about 30K) and it is now up to her to pay for it all. She has 12 months to get financing otherwise the house reverts back to me.

Well, with 30k equity, her credit would have to be pretty ****ty in order to get denied a mortgage. The mortgage companies love situations like this, because the probability of them forclosing goes way up. Just a question, what happens if in that 12 months, she falls behind on the mortgage, and in 6months time the bank is trying to take it? Do you get a chance to take it back again before that happens? Or does the bank get it?

if she is late twice within the 12 months (payment not recieved by the 15th of the month) I take back the house. Protecting my credit was my main issue when considering leaving her the house.
