It's a VG. they didn't put VEs in until 92. (do some searching. this subject comes up ALL THE TIME.)

1989-1991 SE's (Stick or Automatic) Were VG30E
1989-1994 GXE's (Only Automatic) Were VG30E

1992-1994 SE's (Stick Or Automatic) Were VE30DE

Since you have a 1991, you can only have the VG. Some of the cosmetic differences between the GXE and SE were:

SE has black side view mirrors.
GXE has body colored side view mirrors.

SE had "Smoked" tail lights with black center piece.
GXE had Red Tail Lights with Red Centerpiece with chrome surrounding trim.

SE had body colored grille.
GXE had chrome grille.

SE had black trim around the windows.
GXE had chrome trim around the windows.

SE has turbine looking, or 'sawblade' wheels.
GXE has what looks like a series of half circles around the edges of the rim.

All SE's came with factory spoilers.
GXE spoilers were dealer options.

SE had dual tipped exhaust.
GXE had single tipped exhaust.

SE had white faced gauges.
GXE had black faced gauges.

SE came with no keyless entry
GXE came with keyless entry standard.

The list goes onn...
